And that’s where the list ends, but the only people you need to keep the job - ClaudeFather
That's who he works for. Bettman has grown the league tremendously. The only way to make millions for the owners is to have the league be more successful then it was when he took over.

Literally every sport has grown there bud. And much more than hockey. From failed expansion, to lockouts, the never ending Olympic saga, you could easily argue almost any other owner would have been better. It’s been pointed out on here the NBA ascension when both leagues were neck and neck |

Bud, hockey is always going to be the 4th major sport so that is not an intelligent argument. It's simply a fact that Bettman has done a tremendous job growing the NHL and has enriched the owners. He is the longest serving sports commissioner for a reason. |

Torts has been a coach for over 20 years, he’s one of the longest tenured coaches and has done a tremendous job. See how that works? |

in many people's eyes that is true. However it doesn't support your premise. When you've been a pro sports commissioner as long as he has, there are going to be blemishes. Overall he has done a really good job in growing the NHL and making money for the owners that he works for. Which is why he has been the NHL commissioner for as long as he has been.

He’s definitely made the owners rich and grown the league. But he still has high negatives that make him far from great. Losing a whole season is unforgivable. He screwed up the 1994 lockout. His position on CTE is anti science. The TV deal, John Spano, allowing the league to suffer for 10 years with the trap and the Coyote mess are all on him. All his efforts and hockey still is not mainstream.

You know what I think. I think they should trade Frost to Chicago for Bedard. I know the Flyers are taking a gamble. I think it’s worth the risk. - Keyser soze
Would you trade Verbal Kint for Frost?

I personally think that his public position on CTE is more lawyer and PR protecting his clients from potential liability than anything else.

I agree. But it exposes his moral and ethical shortcomings at the same time.

LOL, your responses are intellectually bankrupt. To not respond to every comment he made is not to deny that there have been blemishes. I clearly said that there were in his 25+ year reign as NHL commissioner in a previous post. What are you talking about?

Is he like Hextall, just hasn’t seen out his vision yet 😂. The leagues probably the worst it’s been in a decade. His parity driven point system and cap structure has crippled the product. There’s a few good teams and then a landfill of mediocrity. |

It’s rare. He doesn’t care but he has no credibility with fans or players.

Your first comment just supports my previous point. That's juvenile and unintelligent. You may feel that it has crippled the product but that is not the overall sentiment. There's more than a few good teams. That's also the way it has always been. There is still a financial discrepancy between teams but not how it was before the cap. Which was completely necessary with players getting upwards of 70% of league revenue before the cap was instituted.

With Carolina winning tonight, the Flyers are now in a wildcard spot, 2 points behind Carolina, and 1 below NYI, before they play Vancouver. I hope they win more than anything, as I can't stand the Vancouver fan base, but I don't see that happening tonight.
Washington is 1 point back with a game in hand before the game starts....Oh yeah...Pittsburgh is 4 points back, same games played before tonight. |

Just might to annoy jd250
I will be fine as I don'y expect them to make the playoffs and fully expect Carolina, NJD and possibly Pitts finshing above us.
we have been playing playoff hockey for 3 months..it's not sustainable

Flyers are really 3rd in the Metro. We'll see, they played a strong first period and outplayed the Canucks.

Sorry for misunderstanding, but how are they currently third?
NYR -49 points
Carolina 42 points
NYI 41 points
Philly 40 points
To me, games in hand are opportunities to gain or lose ground, but nothing is guaranteed. Games would need to be won to get to the same point totals, as right now we are behind on points.
Strong on the faceoffs and outshooting 13-7 after 1 |
