Just accept it, the Flyers have beaten yet another top team twice this season, handily! I’m not saying Tocchet is a bad coach, just that he has a team with 3 elite players while Torts has a team with 0 elite players, and Torts team has won twice! Just deal with it. - jd250
Deal with what? I am not sad the Flyers won, you idiot. I have been a Flyers fan since March 10, 1980, and I always enjoy the Flyers beating the Canucks.
You have your opinion of Torts and the team...my opinion sees things quite differently. It doesn't mean we both don't want the team to be a success. I want long term success, being a contender year in, year out, and not just stumbling in the middle. I see the Flyers as playing playoff hockey since October. They have done well, but it wears players down, and it can't be sustained. I would rather the Flyers be a finesse team, with speed and skill than a grinding team. My preference.
I don't like Torts. I don't like how he is, how he acts, how he treats the press and some players, and no this isn't just about Frost. I see him as an arogant a$$hole, and wish the Flyers never hired him. He has made an embarrassment of himself and previous teams he has coached before. When it was rumored they were looking at hiring him, my heart literally sank. Felt the same about AV.
Just stop with the "so there", " deal with it", "must hurt " crap. The only thing that hurts is my brain trying to understand your logic. This isn't some kindergarten class that we are trying to outdo one another.
The team needs patience and to keep focused on the bigger picture. |

When the flyers first hired torts I hated the hire also. I called it a lazy hire and felt Torts was nothing more than an ego centric coach that would be more fiasco than positive. But Torts won me over. He has proven to me he has changed and adapted to the modern NHL game and its modern athlete. I find his press conferences both enlightening and a must watch. I really do believe Torts is one of the best coaches in the league and as a fan I appreciate how he has moved this franchise forward by going back to its roots and being the catalyst to this rebuild. |

York and Zamula running the PP a great sign for the Flyers. Zamula is really showing me something, I really don’t think he should sit the rest of the season unless he needs to. |

Sorry for misunderstanding, but how are they currently third?
NYR -49 points
Carolina 42 points
NYI 41 points
Philly 40 points
To me, games in hand are opportunities to gain or lose ground, but nothing is guaranteed. Games would need to be won to get to the same point totals, as right now we are behind on points.

With teams playing unequal amounts of games, points percentage is the more accurate barometer.

The 2023-24 3 time Jack Adam’s award winner 2, the fake award contender 0, and both games not even close! - jd250
That's what it's going to come down to, just those two games to the voters. They won't consider what happens in all the other games.

Another good indicator is goal differential. Right now I am truly wondering if the Devils are what they are with a-13, and as I stated I don’t fear the Islanders at -11. I think a team to watch is the penguins with a +10. Right now the Flyers are in great shape. |

I think the voters will see a team that was picked to be in the bottom 5 of the league making the playoffs, having wins against every good team in the league and a team void of elite talent. |

He’s definitely made the owners rich and grown the league. But he still has high negatives that make him far from great. Losing a whole season is unforgivable. He screwed up the 1994 lockout. His position on CTE is anti science. The TV deal, John Spano, allowing the league to suffer for 10 years with the trap and the Coyote mess are all on him. All his efforts and hockey still is not mainstream. - Minnyhock
as you said made them $$$, I personally think any competent person would have as well. Technology grew the game more than bettman. |

He hasn't adapted to the modern NHL. You wouldn't know that if you saw it. He plays the same way he has played for the last 20 years. He is still abysmal in handling players. He deserves credit for how he has the team playing his system and how he has them playing as a team. However, when you look at all the data and all the information available, it's not sustainable. It's not how you win long term in the NHL. The Flyers are in a good spot to make the playoffs. They can be competitive against anyone with the way they're playing right now. It still comes down to the big picture. How is this franchise going to react? Are going to sell players if the right deals come along and prioritize the rebuild over winning? Time will tell. This is the same kind of situation as when I told you Fletcher's moves would wind up hurting the Flyers more than helping them.

Torts sucks
Flyers suck
I’m not fooled by this team.

Voters won't see the coach who took the team from 22nd last year and projected to miss the playoffs to the top of the NHL?

This is not Torts problem. He’s the coach, and he’s doing a phenomenal job. |

The Flyers will fall short because they just don’t have the talent of the PP, but just think about it, with even an average PP, this Flyers team would be at the top of the league. - jd250
so which is it they will fall short or make the playoffs? back to back post saying 2 diff things. |

They absolutely will. listen to a number of hockey podcasts, people with votes for hockey awards have Torts as their front runner. To think torts isn’t in the Jack Adam’s race is extremely foolish |

Your comments are foolish. Where did I say he isn't in the race? What I said is that he is not favored over Tocchet at this point. Tocchet is the favorite. Coaches of the Cap and Coyotes are also in the running with Tortorella.

I won't be disappointed if it doesn't, but even if they continue to play well, do you honestly think NJD or Carolina will miss over the Flyers?
Who misses?
NYR
Carolina
NYI
Philly
NJD
Washington
Pittsburgh
Tampa
Toronto
Florida
Detroit
Boston
So 3 from each division automatically make it...I think that will be NYR, NJD, Carolina, Boston, Toronto, and one of Tampa/ Florida. So who misses the wc slots out of the 6 Teams who don't get top 3 spots.
Washington and Pitts are weakest...that leaves 2 spots for 4 teams...so one of probably NYI, Philly, Detroit and Tampa or Florida.
I don't think we make it over any of those 4. I would think NYI and Tampa/ Florida would make it.
Just my opinion - TheFreak
they way they have played why not? they both have issues they need to address
how long do they get to continue to say the season is still young and what not? |

no he hasn't. Why cant he adapt to fix the PP? For such a great coach cleary he can see this is an issue no? |

You just embarrass yourself every single day on here, because you just can’t admit you are wrong about Torts, about this team, about everything. If you want to walk the plank with your Torts bashing be my guest. No one takes your serious at this point. |
