They just started when Armstrong came onboard a few years ago. - Pacificgem
Oh really, what about other years they've been rebuilding? have we only begun our rebuild with Rutherford?

Hopefully it all comes together for them, whether it be in AZ or another city. They did it right by rebuilding properly. - Pacificgem

They went to the conference finals in 2012, after that they’ve been trying to unsuccessfully be competitive. When Bill Armstrong came onboard in September 2020 they started an actual rebuild.
Sucking at your job as a GM doesn’t mean you’re rebuilding. Chayka and Benning were just bad at their jobs. |

I’m hoping they’ll get it done, but I’m not sure what’s going to happen. If they put it in the right location, I think they’ll be successful. Either way they’re going to have a good team if just some of these prospects hit. - Pacificgem
Don't they have like a Jan 31 deadline on it or something? Or a vote? |

Weird take. Chayka was trying to rebuild, just failed. Doesn't mean he wasn't rebuilding they tanked to try to get 1OA several times.

This quote is from 2019 when Chayka signed his extension, after 4 years of the the word rebuild being tossed around consistently.
"John is one of the brightest and hardest-working general managers in the entire NHL and over the past four seasons, he has done an excellent job of rebuilding our franchise and transforming the Coyotes into a contender," Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo said in a statement. "I am fully confident that John is the right person to lead us moving forward and help us bring the Stanley Cup to Arizona."
The Coyotes 100% thought they were rebuilding, it just turned out Chayka was a modern day snake oil salesman. |

Oh I think he was certainly trying to rebuild at points in the season, but he wasn't purposefully tanking a full season to do so. Kinda like Jim Benning, when he failed so bad he tried to acquire picks.
He was hired in May of 2016, his first year he was trying to be the smartest guy in the room with his fancy stats stuff. The Coyotes finished 3rd or 4th last in his first year but got the 7th overall pick, which he traded away at the draft for Derek Stepan & Antti Raanta, now tell me that's trying to rebuild, trading away the 7th overall pick. He wanted a #1 center and a starting goaltender.
2018 he once again pulled a Benning and failed at being competitive with Stepan and Raanta so they finished third last, they reached for Barrett Hayton at 5th overall. They traded away the 34th overall second round pick for Lawson Crouse & David Bolland, again, not a rebuild move, he was trying to be competitive.
2019 they had an 86 point season, progress, sort of, they finished 14th last. Not exactly rebuilding. 2020 they finished with 74 points trying to compete, again, another failed attempt at competing. 2021 he was fired!!
Nowhere in his history is he purposefully trying to do a rebuild. Sure, he's trying to rebuild or re-tool the team but it's not through the draft. Which is what I'm talking about. Bill Armstrong tanked, as in he tried to purposely be bad and collect as many high picks as he could, Chayka didn't do that. |

This is where you'd tell someone they weren't part of the discussion and to mind their own business, perhaps you should shut the fu ck up and listen to your own advise because you clearly don't have a clue what you're talking about. |

I never tell people to stay out of the discussion... never. That defeats the purpose of trolling. This is just you fabricating more BS.
This is supposed to be you having a clue of what you are talking about?

You're taking this out of context, every GM is trying to rebuild their franchise every year, that doesn't mean you're "rebuilding" in the context of trying to lose.
From the 2016 draft, he was hired May 2016 a month before the draft, until the 2020 draft, five drafts all together, Chayka had five 1st round picks, two 2nd round picks and 7 third round picks. In the past two years Bill Armstrong has had five 1st round picks, three 2nd round picks and six 3rd round picks, so he's accomplished in two years what took Chayka five. I'd say Bill Armstrong is performing an actual rebuild, not a re-tool. |

I’m always right, when it comes to you, you’re just too stubborn to admit it. I’m right about John Chayka as well, he never did a full rebuild, but rather a re-tool on the fly. |

I'm still waiting for your claim that Virtanen was going to turn this franchise around and prove the haters wrong to play out since you are always right.
