I just think his defensive game is nonexistent and the Leafs have to consider that when deciding which direction they want to take the team.

I identified what I believe to be a major problem, and I’m offering solutions to correct it.

All these little outburst of anger towards me is because they can’t accept that I’m right about this. I called all of this, the hot start because it’s a contract year. But now that the defensive cracks are too big to ignore, Keefe will start reining him in, which will hurt his trade value.

I can’t help but imagine Treliving has seen enough, and both Keefe and Willy are on their way out. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

I've been advocating moving a core piece for years. That ship has sailed imo. Treliving has all but committed to Nylander. He's doing what Brendan wants. They are waiting for Tavares' money to come off and the cap to go up to reshape the group. As I have also been saying for years - it's an absolute WASTE of 8-9 years of the best player this franchise has ever had.

Tough generalization, lots of moving parts. Overpaying your best players much better than paying for non producing players. See Huberdeau. Colorado and Tampa both pay their top four $36-$37M, Leafs are at just over $40M. Apart from a timing issue, its more about what you do and the waste created with the other $40M in cap.
