no he didn't
he had 3 goals and 7 helpers
his teammate who made the all star had 7 goals and 3 helpers
goals matter - homiedclown
Right, and if Ostlund wasn’t driving the line and getting Lekkerimaki the puck. There wouldn’t be any goals.
It’s the same methodology as to why Eichel should have won the Conn Smythe over Marchessault, to a lesser extent obviously.

What id do personally is bridge Mitts.
If you need to give him $7M per to get him on a 3 year deal, I do it all day.
Mitts helps you win now, can bridge you till when Savoie/Kulich/Ostlund are ready to make meaningful contributions.
A spine of Tage/Cozens/Mitts is a luxury that not many teams can have (when all three are playing up to their standards).
The Sabres have more than enough assets to acquire a top 4 d-man, and to that, I am disappointed in Adams being incapable of doing so.
The fans resorting to moaning about the work of the amateur staff and the drafting and development of a prospect pipeline 30 other NHL teams wish they had is not the answer - Swedish_Jesus
Can the team have a quality spine if they don't have a strong, collective backbone? |

A lot of words to describe a team that is in 27th place.

What a dumb comment. They could have locked him up at half the price 4 years ago.
Why would you pay double now?
Just not thinking. |

Know we got people trading are 1st for Andrew Peeke, man I might do some crazy trades. But in what world is he worth a 1st let alone a top 10 at this point. Insanity! |

How many times have the Sabres had the top or one of the top prospects pools?
It’s a meaningless ranking. Terry has been looking towards the future as the solution since he bought the team. It doesn’t work.
The GM building 4 NHL rosters with the future in mind isn’t working.
Rank in value of which has the highest perceived potential:
Rosen
Savoie
Ostlund
Kulich
24’ 1st
25’ 1st unprotected
The draft picks are just as, if not more valuable since no player has had any real NHL impact. Also the NHL team is a bottom 10 team.
Bragging about draft picks and using prospects potential as means to validate this front office must be how Terry Pegula thinks things are ok.
- The prospect pool is a surplus of the same and not what the NHL roster needs
- The NHL roster is unbalanced
- The NHL coach mismanages the unbalanced roster
- The GM has failed to implement an identity
- The owner holds no one accountable

Also the more Dahlin interviews I reeeed the more I realize he has sh*t for brains.
Highly talented, but I would have to really think of who to put my money on if Dahlin and Risto took IQ tests. |

The amateur scouting staff swings for the fences on skill and talent. I don’t have a problem with drafting for elite skill traits with your draft picks.
If you are drafting players that are capable of playing in the NHL, your staff is doing its job.
It’s on the GM to use the trade market and free agency to balance the roster out.

35 draft picks under Adams, 4 are in the nhl. That’s an 11% success rate.
The 3 of 7 1st rounders that are in the NHL, one of those being 1st overall has you believing things are better than they look.
The 1 impactful player of 28 picks outside the 1st round gives them a success rate of 3%. |

Excluding Power:
Benson- Franchise Talent
Quinn- Top line winger
Peterka- Top 6 winger
I haven’t seen anything to date that suggests Savoie, Ostlund, Kulich don’t end up as top 6 forwards.
Rosen looks the part of a middle 6 winger, and as we have an abundance of those, I think should be used as trade bait.
Novikov, Strbak, Komorov on their current development arcs look like depth d-men at worst with second pairing upside.
Whalberg has certainly looked the part of a player that at the very least has a future in this league as a bottom 6 guy who can play up and down the lineup. Seems like the perfect Greenway replacement when developed. Ditto Poltapov when we are able to get him over.
Kozak, Kisakov, Neuchev, Nadeau are already in the organization and will be interesting to see how they develop.
Jake Richard is a nice find in the 6th round. Elite shot and looks like a player that can find his way into the conversation which is your goal with any mid-late round selection.
The Finnish goalie selection was moronic with Casey and Leneau on the board. That is really the only selection that leaves me shaking my head at this point

Still too early to call Benson a franchise talent.
They all have potential, it just means nothing until it’s proven in the NHL.

We’ll find out how much he loves playing in So FL on a very good Panthers team. Some GM is gonna offer him a poop load of money trying to pry him away this summer. (If Zito doesn’t get an extension done w/him before then) |

He's optimistic on all of them. Kind of jealous of that perspective tbh. I've seen too many 'top 6 potential' turn into AHL tweener or run of the mill 3rd liners. Hit on two top 6 difference makers and I'd be thrilled. The longer it takes these kids to get to the NHL, the less likely that beomes. That's the contradiction here, imo. Took Benson one camp to jump to the top of the list, by a wide margin.

Yupp, and adding Benson to the roster moves the Sabres….into 27th place. Benson is ok, I don’t see the elite play some talk about.
As for the bolded, it lowers their trade value which hurts the NHL rosters chances to improve. |

Leonard is a heck of a prospect as well.
This might be one of the best teams the U.S. has ever sent to the WJC.
I think 11 of them can return next year too so they have a chance to repeat. - Swedish_Jesus
And snuggerud was hurt a couple games.
US was stacked. Canada desperately needed Savoie, and realistically Benson. They snubbed a couple guys that could have helped. Canadian coaching and management at the international level has been driven by ego for decades. They had the talent available to put a gold metal contender in this year. |

I'd say the 24 1st and then the 25 unprotected 1st are the top 2 in terms of value, because teams generally prefer to pick their own player when it comes to prospects, over choosing a player another team has already selected. |

Do you mean hit on two more?
Aren't Quinn and Peterka both Adams draft pick hits that would be considered as top 6 difference makers?
I understand if you don't want to consider them that yet, but it sure is trending that way. |

Rosen-Lowest potential. Trade if we can get a good return
Savoie-Mid potential. Still trade while his reputation is premium potential
Ostlund- High. Like this kids game. Keep
Kulich-Mid/High. Needs to learn 200ft game to be successful in NHL but keep
24’ 1st Trade if return is there. We don’t really need another 7-10 pick that will take 3 years plus. This draft is not nearly as deep as 23

Fair enough on Benson, but he is 13th in rookie scoring as an 18 year old, and he won't turn 19 until the season is over.
I understand being sour on anything Sabres, and I know you loathe any smallish player, but Benson has looked really good as an 18 year old rookie on a poop sack team.
I'll likely be getting my Eichel jersey name plate switched to Benson, as long as he keeps that number. |

Mittelstadt helps us win now? How? We have Mittelstadt now and we aren’t winning. We have Savoie, Ostlund, Kulich, Rosen who are close to ready now and can take over that #3 centre spot and save us $7 mill as you’re describing as a cap hit for Mittelstadt.
I’d rather go big in free agency and nab Stamkos rather than extend Mittelstadt at $7 mill per.
All these big money and big term contracts for a “core” that has achieved nothing and only claim to fame is being 1 point out of the playoffs ONE TIME is ridiculous. |
