Pretty entertaining game between two teams who play well on 50% of the rink.

Great win. Shows how important zeeker is. May be most underrated player on this team. Throws off a lot of chemistry missing him, maybe more than most on this team. 13/14 need to play together. Was big on Barzy at wing but those two are dynamic together.
- streaks

Well he's a center and it's harder for a winger to play center than the other way around which is why team Canada has about 9 centers on it lol. Barzal at least played a ton of it but they may need someone as a cheap replacement or a call up here

This is actually a really well written commentary on Tavares, our fans and Bissonette.
I donā€™t agree with it 100% but he has a few interesting takes in it.

- potvin05

Bissonnette, while an imbecile, is doing nothing other driving clicks and listens to their podcast. He picks a handful of teams every year to rail on that he knows have a fanbase that will get fired up. Their popularity is the same whether people listen because they hate him or because they love him. Getting angry at him is like getting angry at a professional wrestler, it's all for show.

"OK Otto, this is your last chance. 11 strikes and you're out"

I don't know if they call anyone up unless Wahlstrom gets a "see ya" from Lou. I hate to lose a player with a shot like his but he is entirely one-dimensional and he's not even particularly good at scoring with that shot...so I wouldn't be surprised if we see him moved/waived/whatever sooner than later.

Good game, fellas. Leafs probably lucky to get a point. Your team did a good job of maintaining possession in our end.

He got some rubber to the net but it was mostly of the harmless variety. He made a couple of decent plays but he was mostly doing a lot of standing around. Not a good look for a player who hasnā€™t seen the lineup much this season. Not sure if itā€™s still attributed to his season ending injury last year but I wouldnā€™t be surprised to see him gone sooner then later.

He wasn't particularly valuable prior to that injury either. I don't want to lose him because I fear he may figure it out and turn his lethal shot into one that's also effective...but I have to imagine he's running out of chances here.

No he wasnā€™t but he was better then what weā€™re seeing now imo. He has a great shot but in the limited time weā€™ve seen him this year itā€™s rarely used. He had a much quicker release in the past. Now heā€™s telegraphing his shot and by the time heā€™s ready to let it go heā€™s defended or heā€™s flubbing it. Definitely not a good look for him this season.

A lot of standing around and hanging last night. Has to skate a lot harder then that if he wants to stick.

Yeah I don't get the feeling he has a particularly high hockey IQ and he has probably relied on his shot too much when he was playing amateur hockey and now he can't do that at the NHL level and it's a problem for him.

For some reason I get the impression he doesnā€™t have much of an IQ in any sense. šŸ˜‚

All kidding aside it would be huge for this team if he could somehow put it together here. I donā€™t see that happening but a man can dreamā€¦

The guy who wrote the piece actually touched on Bissonetteā€™s whole act as ā€œprobablyā€ a design for clicks and listens like you said. Heā€™s obviously a clown, but people do subscribe to his crap.

I have to say, the biggest reason I posted it was how the writer touched on his legacy. I never really looked at it like that before. I have said Tavares would have been the missing link a few years ago. He was still one of the best sniperā€™s in the NHL at the time and that was the one thing this team truly lacked at the time. But, does the team gel the way it did and get as far with Tavares being the focus still? Does he subscribe to Trotzā€™s system? Weā€™ll obviously never know the answers to that.

But, never really thought about the number retirement, team legacy, possible HoF ramifications of his decision and on that, I think the guy is spot on.

I donā€™t hate to say it, I donā€™t see Toronto winning anything remotely significant anytime soon. Is Tavares a Hall of Famer? Heā€™ll probably have the numbers, butā€¦does he have the resume? Nothing about his career pops out. Nothing. The Isles are obviously not retiring his numberā€¦would Toronto? Theyā€™ve been throwing him a 6-year pity party now so maybe they do and he does get in the Hall?

Who knows, itā€™s not our problem, but the column was a conversation starter.

Well most people here are going to be biased, probably myself included, but I'll try to be as objective as possible about the prospects of him being elected to the HHoF.

He's close to a PPG over the course of his career. He's certainly produced. He's over 1000 career points which fewer than 100 NHL'ers have accomplished in the history of the league. Those are impressive feats. He has an Olympic Gold Medal, although he was injured and didn't play most of the tournament. He was also the first CHL player to be granted the "exceptional status" at age 15 (it's the hockey hall of fame, not just the NHL hall of fame so I'm including that even though it probably doesn't count for a whole lot. World Juniors gold as well.

But he's won zero individual league awards, closest would be finishing second to Jamie Benn in the Art Ross race with us in 2015. He's only seen the second round of the playoffs twice and I'll even give him somewhat of a break because most of the Islander teams he was on were pretty bad. Obviously no Cups, which are a team award but still carry pretty heavy relevance.

It could probably go either way. I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't voted in and I wouldn't be surprised if he was. I don't think I'd call him a first ballot guy, that's about the only thing that would surprise me.

Isles picking up where they left off, really moving the puck confidently in the O-zone

*edit: they've been dominated ever since I said this
