I hate this OT set up. Playing for the point. I hate 3 point games, even though this year its helping Islanders, so far. Im just ranting now because I woke up pissed about them losing last night.

You have to try and secure the point in a tie game with two mins left then hope for the best in OT. Problem is our guys didn’t do that last night with a couple of completely bone headed plays. Fans blaming Sorokin today for the loss is hysterical. The REAL problem is there are some guys that just aren’t playing well in Martin comes to mind first. At this point that guy shouldn’t see the ice in the waning moments of the game. He isn’t the player he was. He wasn’t when we resigned him.

Maybe its time to try some other guys late in the game and on PK? Try 20, 16 10. I know they put 14 on PK without 53. These veterans may have experience but they are older and slower. Whats the worst that could happen? A young guys screws up at the end of the game? Big deal , the vets have been doing it all year.

Lowest I’ve been with this team in years.

Sad thing is if we had a decent coach, a DECENT one, not even a good one, we’d have 10 more points easily this season.

See I think at times Capuano had a decent roster(not saying great saying decent at times)but his in game and personnel decisions were so bad maybe the worst I’ve seen. I’ll never forget when he threw Marty Reasoner out in game 1 against the pens after being a healthy scratch forever years ago. I think we lost that game 5-0 if I’m remembering right and Reasoner was directly responsible for four of them. I’m not sticking up for Lambert when I say this, I don’t think he’s a good coach, but I’ll say I don’t think he’s Capuano level bad.

He hasn't been that guy since he went to the Leafs. That ship has sailed. He seems to be a good person. I like what he did for the team in the past. Move him to the front office.

Absolutely Martin is a class act. I think he was effective with us when he came back from the leafs but after a couple years ago it was pretty obvious he was starting to slow down. Then we resigned him. 😂

The point is Lambert is a donkey. I tried to point that out in real time yesterday but you mentioned Weight’s name for whatever reason like that has any bearing on what’s going on now.

As of this morning the team now sits outside of the playoffs. We have gotten a good taste of what this team can do against the NHL elite.

In an effort to generate more offensive, the team's defensive play has taken a major hit.

The drive for more offensive, has made Sorokin look average at best at times.

The small amounts of speed sprinkled through the lineup, cannot counter the NHL elite. This team is reduced to running around in their own end.

While the power play has been a little bit of a bright spot, it appears all other facets of their game have suffered.

As a fan it pains me to say that at the deadline. Lou should look to do nothing or move pieces for draft picks and prospects. Adding more ingredients to this soup might get us into the playoffs but it will not win a championship.

Kind of like the timing of the Horvat trade maybe wasn’t great…

Season isn’t over. There’s a lot of hockey to play but I don’t think this team is a true contender. It’s just a team playing with the “anything can happen” mantra if they make the playoffs. Sure it’s hockey who knows but I’m not sure how many years consecutively it makes sense doing this? For me that was last season with the draft there was but we obviously decided to go in another direction…

I also don’t understand how this guy is still the coach. Lou has fired people for much less than this in the past. It’s literally the definition of insanity keeping him around.

I did not have high expectations going in either but you can see they actually do have a good enough team to be a playoff team. They need a coach to put his foot up some of their asses. Or, just make better personnel or strategic decisions. Lambert has lost this team or, he never really had it to begin with. It’s not too late to do something about it. The longer he is the coach, the shorter that window gets, which is what pisses me off.

I hear you. He’s not a good coach that much is obvious but I’m not really sure how great the team is either. Lambert, if he stays, has to figure out a way for this team to play some semblance of defense for them to even have a chance of making the playoffs. I’ll also say his personnel decisions have to be better and not based on what a player once was or loyalty. Martin shouldnt have been out there. They have exceeded expectations as far as scoring goes this season so far but they don’t have the horses for being a serious threat playing this style. Eventually the law of averages will catch up to them(it may have already). There are much more deeper, faster, talented teams we are competing against.

His personal decisions suck 100%. Just breaking up Barzal and Horvat is a head scratcher for me.
The team imho can make the POs and is good enough. If they didn’t shat away 10 plus points in the last minutes of games we would be near the top of the division which is extremely tight.
The defensive structure sucks and the PK is atrocious! The Islanders give up more shots then every team in the league accept one. Think about that for a minute and it will tell you what’s wrong with this team. Yes the PP is much better but that is worthless if your PK sucks and you can’t keep the puck out of your own net. We have the best goalie tandem in the league and they look average on paper because of the shat system “Lame” Lambert is trying to get this team to play. It isn’t working or the system itself sucks and won’t ever work.
Fire his ass before it’s too late Lou. This is on you as the President and GM!
