Good to see Farabee finally getting more minutes including with the top line. Should just put him there and forget about it.

For a 3rd liner, he sure does score at lot at ES.

I’m starting to think he’s cooked but I’d have to look at the advanced stats to see. Thing is, if it was truly a slump he would be doing some positive things. Hes not doing anything positive right now that I can tell.

He isn't quite cooked just yet, but it looks like he's performing quite badly on the defensive side -- worst forward on the team in that respect.

The team's SV% and SH% when he's on the ice are putrid, which probably doesn't help with how we're perceiving his struggles.

They should promote the PP coach from the Phantoms to replace Rocky, even if that's Lappy.

Comparatively to Tortorella, Thompson is an offensive genius.

It might be this guy. I assume former NHL dman Jason Smith runs the D.

Torts is a fraud as preaches accountability. Doesn't hold his staff accountable.

Have briere run the PP, hell even "Jonesy"

It's not just the advantage they have in speed player wise. They also play a faster game by design with breakouts and transition systems. Their regroup patterns are superior. Notice how many times in the game, instead of dumping in, they pulled the puck back and hit regroups to enter the zone with possession. The only issue is that Edmonton is vulnerable defensively in my opinion.

An attack mind like Knoblauch has, is the kind of hockey coach the Flyers need to add to their coaching staff. I just don't know if Tortorella would be open to any of it.

Watching Cam Atkinson’s in season decline reminds me of watching Wayne Simmonds waste away his last season as a Flyer. Simmonds decent start to the season just to go on very long stretches without scoring. That was really tough to watch.

Didn't Atkinson have neck fusion surgery...that is known to restrict movement, flexibilty, range and motion? Isn't that the surgery Eichel didn't want, and Buffalo was pushing for?

From what I have read, the decreased movement is ok for some sports, but it is a death nail in an NHL'ers career.

Sadly, this might be all that Atkinson can do.

Thanks. If he were scoring regularly and at least balancing things out I’m sure I wouldn’t be as critical.

I don’t know the details of Atkinson’s injury but Simmonds had a career of getting beat up in the crease. I think the last major injury for him was his foot.

I'm an Atkinson fan and defender, but I have said all along sell high (meaning take on salary and a pick, or just give away) while he was hot after returning from the surgery. Too late now.

I feel the same about Laughton. If he gets hot for two weeks, get a prospect or 2nd rounder right away. I appreciate him but holding on to bottom six forwards who are aging just for leadership examples means holding on to everybody.

You don't think other teams would have played the waiting game early in the season to see how he plays?

They are stuck with him so just ride the contract out. How he continues to get a lot of minutes is baffling. Maybe us him less he could be more effective.

Here is the question and I don't know the answer. Is this just a huge slump for Atkinson or is he cooked?
- MJL

Can't it be both?

The more I read on Atkinson's injury, diagnoises, and treatment, the more I don't want to know.

He was misdiagnoised, went to Dr.s he "trusted" in Columbus and finally diagnoised and treated by an Eagles Dr.

https://www.crossingbroad...k-care-of-his-injury.html

I have always liked Cam as a player, but the best thing for the team would have been not returning.

When Cates comes back, Cam better get a couple games in press box.

Yup, as soon as the Flyers get Draisaitl and McDavid on their roster, I'm sure Torts will be very open to an attacking mindset Have you actually been watching any Flyers hockey this year?? For you to state Torts is not open to an attacking mindset can only mean you live under a rock.

Cam and Deslauriers should sit. Isn't it time for the Flyers to bring up Lycksell, Tuomaala or Laczinsky, if for nothing else to give some players who are obviously fighting it right now a rest?
