Cam and Deslauriers should sit. Isn't it time for the Flyers to bring up Lycksell, Tuomaala or Laczinsky, if for nothing else to give some players who are obviously fighting it right now a rest?
- jd250

makes zero sense to bring hi up. Let him play in the AHL the entire year. Flyers have set back his development once already.

I agree.

If they were looking to call someone up to replace Deslauriers in the lineup I would call up Wade Allison. He can play a 4th line role. He also seems to have righted the ship after sulking the first few months of the season. He would bring some needed skill to the line and I also don't care if he gets healthy scratched here and there.

I have no idea what to do about Atkinson. Let him play through it? Bench him?

Do nothing. Falling out of the playoffs and soon is the best thing that can happen to this team.

Yup, as soon as the Flyers get Draisaitl and McDavid on their roster, I'm sure Torts will be very open to an attacking mindset Have you actually been watching any Flyers hockey this year?? For you to state Torts is not open to an attacking mindset can only mean you live under a rock.

Add a few more sentences. Maybe then you'll actually have said something.

Let me know if you actually want to have a discussion.

Torts isn't a Laczynski believer.

Also agreed. But I live in reality and there is no way they do that.

Two other members of the triumvirate need to step in and say these are your players. Don't give him a choice.

They are currently in the last playoff spot by points percentage . I don’t think there is anything they can do to prevent falling out of it by the end of the month. The question is how far out will they be and it will be enough for Briere to sell.

I'm hoping Briere pulls an Yzerman and sells off assets even if they are in bubble contention.

Well Tortorella certainly found him. He had the second most TOI. In what universe can someone such as bad as he does and continue to log huge amounts of TOI....

torts iced 7 d last night with a full roster - what makes you think he would play anyone from the phantoms over a roster with 7 defensemen?

If the Flyers don’t bank a lot of points in the next two weeks they probably won’t stay even in the bubble. The back half of January until the trade deadline is brutal. Only 3 of the 20 games are against teams more than 3 pts out of a playoff spot today.

Teams are also going to ramp up their play, happens every year. I believe the Flyers can remain competitive due to the style they play. However I think the advantage that won with in the first part of the season is going to slowly and continually fade away.

only if the coach/co gm1 give his go ahead.

Can you see Torts saying yes trade a b and c player if they are in a playoff spot or right there? I myself can not.

Best part of the game - no ND. For most of the night it looked like men amongst boys. Not very many good skaters on the Flyers and it showed in spades....Oilers are a very fun team to watch.
- mr4tno

I really liked our first period. The new top line looked good for at least the first half of the game and I thought Couturier was the best player on that line. As the game faded, I thought the team really stopped trying. I also thought Torts lost the match ups game. I don’t have the numbers in front of me but I thought I saw Frost vs McDavid more than I would have liked last night. Was Laughton seeing any tough match ups?

Huge fan of sitting ND but vs oil and go to 7D, vs fast team playing well, you would think Torts would plan it and create a 4th line to leave some cohesion, no way they were going win either way but.

playjng a 7th d who is slow as can be is good coaching. Could have given his minutes to RR who played a team low 14,excluding staal.

The Flyers played okay in the first 5 -8 minutes of the first period but got crushed for the majority of the first period against the Oilers. They were lucky it wasn't 4-0 at the end of the first. The 2nd period was a solid period for the Flyers. The 3rd period was also poor. Especially based on the fact that they were down and offered no real push back to a team that in my opinion is vulnerable defensively.

I have to admit I was in and out on the game, but I felt like all the penalties really took the wind from us. Never did find our game with all the interruptions. Our powerplay is particularly "special"....

I would not be opposed to Tuomaala playing the year in LHV. Just was thinking about some Phantoms players that could come in and spell some tired or sick forwards right now.

I think if the team continues to slide Torts will reluctantly look for new options.
