We’re not trading anything though if we sign Toews out of retirement. They’re also 2 completely different players.
We didn’t need Kane last year, and the #1 thing for me was he was hurt. We’re giving up assets for a guy WE KNEW wasn’t 100%. What world does that make sense in? That team didn’t need another superstar (and a hurt/old one at that). We all know how his tenure here went so I’m not even going to bring that up.
Toews would be brought here to play a very specific role, shut down 3C that adds more offense than Bonino and wins draws. (Finished 63% last year and is 57% on his career).

What asset exactly did they part with for Kane that you’re hung up on? I didn’t think it was necessary to get Kane either last season after getting Tarasenko but how can you pass up the opportunity to get a player with his pedigree for literally nothing. Move on and same with Toews we need a RW to play with Kreids and Mika.
