He is. Let's see where the praise is when he goes on one of his patented 10-12 game pointless streaks...

It would be interesting to see how many times in his career after his rookie season that he went 10-12 games without a point and see if it's justified to call it "patented" or not. Of course it would have to be compared to other centers in the league to be fair.
Havent seen the guy you thought should be captain dropping the gloves to send a message or defend our players yet. Why isnt he throwing hits to set an example? Not sure I understand your stance on leadership anymore. It was so well defined and constantly expressed before Hughes was named C.... |

I would be willing to bet it's literally never happened in his career. |

Vegas and LA kinda sucking here lately, even really good teams go through a few soft spots in the season. Canucks have to put a good road trip together here. The longest of the year I believe I read. |

So what is needed to help out Petey?
Is his line just in a funk or he doesn’t have the wingers to get it done?
Make a trade to get him a top 6 winger or plug in Kuz & ride out the season & leave it til the offseason? |

Imo still struggling a bit to be consistent on the energy on the forecheck. Ops breakouts have looked to easy & in our zone on the rush too often. 3rd line excluded. Hronek of late showing warts but not worried. Top 6 production has been off along with the PP looking stale. Yup all teams go through stretches but the signs are becoming more prevalent as teams adjust. |

I would go to the farm team an get a top six forward from them.

Tocchet is forcing Kuzy off the team so Allvin is gonna have to trade for a top 6 winger before the TDL to help Petey out. Mikheyev is fine in the other spot as long as he's the 3rd most talented guy on the line. |

You might be able to package a few of them with a first round pick to get a top six forward from another team. |

Before last night he just came off a game where he scored 2 goals and was the teams best forward both ends of the ice. He's not playing at his early season level, but news flash.... outside of the 3rd line, no one is really.
His line is getting zero help. Miky is not doing anything and RT is cycling 4rth liners or Kuz on the other wing. He is the only legit top 6 player on that line. Miky is historically a 3rd liner. RT is scratching Kuz because he doesn't feel he's an NHL player and filling in the void with grinders.
At least on Millers line there is permanently 2 top 6 players. Suter is hot and he'll be on that line most nights. Your expectations of Petey in this situation is a bit unrealistic.
And to answer your second question, a top 6 winger is very needed.

Don’t see a top 6 on the farm or a 3rd wheel that can help. Bains be my closest guy to try out. Either work it out from within with Kuz or trade him is my best scenarios. I wouldn’t force a trade using patience instead choosing to build on this season going for it next year.
Who is your top 6 call up or solution? |

I suspect it would be a temp solution at best while they shop for a good trade.
Of course if your coaches are reluctant to give a player top 6 ice time who isnt up to their standards away from the puck, they will just end up on the 4rth line and a safer player from the 4rth line will be plopped in the top 6. So in the end, it makes little difference. Not just that, but the offensive player from the farm will be judged by his out of role performance on the 4rth line in the end.
Coaches drive me crazy sometimes.

Petey’s line isn’t doing well on zone entries &/or the forecheck. JT’s line does better at it. The consistency is lacking & imo Lafferty is good for entries with his speed backing off the D. Miky doesn’t look to be fully up to speed like his old self. Just looking like ops has figured Petey out & his tendencies is to pull up & not drive unless in the middle where too often checked off the puck. |
