Like clockwork, another one of these posts. - Victoro311
Guess we gotta get used to it. Noticed the Oilers article was can they trade for Guentzel. Because of him, we're now the team everyone dreams will fall out so they can trade for our guy. |

Yeah that’s what Edmonton needs. More scoring. |

They missed an opportunity to move him up while DOC was in the top 6. I like Harkins game too, but he'll probably lose his spot to Nieto. - Tojo.
Nieto is out until March though, plus I think they really like Harkins. |

That's not lost of anyone. Given that those 3 have been together for the best era of Penguins' hockey and have won 3 Cups, most of the fanbase would rather let them retire as Penguins and deal with the fallout as it comes. Even if they don't win another Cup together.
But yes, if you take emotional bias out of the equation, you are correct. - jmatchett383
I welcome your comments, but emotional bias could be called buyer’s remorse. Except in this case it isn’t. Because heroes are extremely hard to come by. They deserve the accolades and most importantly for me, they gave us endless moments that made us believe in them and ourselves. Are we cockney? I guess outsiders might think so. I suggest it’s pretty priceless to be lucky enough to have people who inspire us to rise above it all and live a solid life.
We do not have buyers remorse sir, far, far from it. May we all be so lucky once again moving forward. In the meantime, what a legacy!!!

I think Carter will sit a few games here and there. I’m case they make playoffs. |

I didn't realize it was that long. Guess he's safe for now. Could see them going with the vet PKer because that's their MO. Maybe he gets a chance to play on the third line on his actual side later, but I'm not going to wish for that.
I think 3LW or C might be Harkins best fit if his offense translates at all, but Eller and DOC have those spots pretty nailed down. |

It’s pretty clear Harkins is a better player than DOC. DOC sucks though so not saying much. |

I think they only trade him if we have a fall out, or if he flat out says he won't sign with us.
If he did get traded I could see it being the day of the trade deadline so there would be a bidding war and the potential to get more. I feel like Dubas would probably listen to offers, but unless he felt there was a deal to good to be true I see Guentzel staying with us and being locked up this offseason. |

I would assume in a Edmonton trade would include Nedeljkovic with Guentzel. Makes me wonder if we would want picks and prospects or if Dubas would ask for someone like Evander Kane or Kuzmenko to replace his spot in the lineup |

Jake's agent gave an interview with Sirius NHL Radio.
Certainly didnt sound like a guy who's about to get a deal signed with the Penguins. Said all of the right things like Jake loves Pittsburgh, he has a great relationship with Dubas... but then said Kyle has some big choices to make and deciding if an investment in Jake will be made. Said Kyle could look to see what to do with him at the deadline. |

Obviously hard to say what anyone wants. His kid is a baby so uprooting it isn’t an issue although nearly a decade in Pitt you are still leaving your home, unless minni goes after him. He’s also won the cup so it’s not like he needs to chase that. And he might not have an elite centre wherever he ends up. I agree with him being locked up in the off season. I know someone reported they won’t have serious talks till then.
I don’t think Edmonton has anything of value to receive in a trade. |

Not really. Nice they gave him an opportunity elsewhere since they clearly had no intention to call him up despite leading WBS in scoring. |

As a life-long Flyers fan, I would gladly trade one Cup for 10 years of mediocrity. This Pens era produced 3. - jmatchett383
This is why a decent amount of Steelers fans wish Tomlin was gone. Cute to not lose regular seasons, but winning in the playoffs is all you really care about.
I refer to this as the Hasselbeck-paradox. Someone good enough you can't fire them easily but won't win you a championship. |

What is the condition of the pick? Like if they win the lottery they get to keep that 7th rounder and we get next year's? Has anyone ever seen such a low pick be conditional? Weird. |

Agree, if he would sign or they are still in it I don't see Guentzel traded
If they fall out and he's non-committal about an extension or for some reason they don't think they can pay him, then I'd have to get something for him.
I don't agree with waiting until the off-season to have serious talks if it's in the Pens power. Jake I can see wanting to keep his options open, but if that's his mindset and they fall out early, he's probably gone. |

This is not that uncommon when you want to just give a player away, but the NHL rules won't let you do that, so instead you trade them for a pick with a condition attached that won't be met. The end result is just giving the player away, but it's legal this way. |

That should be the play of the game anyway, what a pass.
Dominating this game, not sure how we don't have one on the board yet. |
