PP is so predictable. Yes they scored a PP goal but it was kind of lucky. They’re still passing on so many shot opportunities. |

Why is Pittsburgh so poopty against bottom feeders. This will be 2 losses to Buffalo those year, 2 to Ottawa, 1 to Chicago, and that absolutely horrid last minute shorty that sunk us to Anaheim. Can’t believe we thumped San Jose. - 10inchTerror
Deserves to win meter or whatever that's called will be off the charts for the Pens in this game. I thought Jakes goal should have counted. They also had great tending.
That being said, the pens over-pass way too much. This whole game they passed themselves out of good shot opportunities. They do it on the PP constantly. It's maddening. |

Yeah, no question the Pens were the better team, and Jake's goal was absolutely a goal. Brutal night for the refs.
Ultimately, the hockey gods willed the Sabres to win with that weird stick deflection bouncing puck goal at the end. You can't beat the hockey gods and the refs in the same game when both are against you. |

Bad teams find ways to lose and since last season, the pens have proven to be a bad team. Struggle to see a path to this team getting good enough to make the playoffs. - abasin
If Pitt could manage just to beat bottom 5 nhl teams their record would be impressive. |

1 for 5 on the PP (only scored on the full 2min 5v3). It's easily the biggest weakness of this team, and will likely prevent them from doing anything if it's not fixed soon. Something drastic has to be changed. Yohe just reported this AGAIN the other day.... They still can't score on the PP in practice either. |

Graves and smith look like awful acquisitions. Graves sucks. Smith had a hot start but has been super quiet and is constantly demoted to 3rd line mid game. That’s a lot of wasted cap space for a team that lacks high end finishers and scoring depth. |

There are 9 teams in the Eastern Conference within 5 points of 4th place Canes... with the Pens, who have games in hand on a lot of those other teams, being one of them.... That's a lot of bad teams, I guess. |

Brutal night for th refs, indeed... But the Pens will have a favourable ref game, or two, before this season is said and done... a season that's still 3 games shy of the half way point for the Pens... |

Other than the Jake call, I didn't even think the refs were that bad. I've seen worse overturned goals. The Harkin's penalty was wrong, but that happens from time to time. Pens got 5pp's with a full 2 min man advantage. Score more than one power play goal and it's likely a different outcome. Pens have easily cost themselves 10+ points in the standings because their PP is so bad. With a really good power play, they'd have another 12-14 points. Every other aspect of their game is good.

From practice today... Per DK's site....
• So, no actual line rushes yet but in these three-on-three drills, Drew O'Connor is working with Evgeni Malkin and Bryan Rust. Then it's Jansen Harkins with Lars Eller and Jeff Carter, and Reilly Smith with Noel Acciari and Valtteri Puustinen. Again, not real line rushes but a little interesting. |
