He has not earned 6 $ mil a year….I’d like a bridge deal. Two year 9 mil….by that time we will know full well what he is or isn’t.

bridge is the way I go unless it was favorable long term deal for the flyers.

I watched all of the WJC games and many of his BC games. The thing is, he really isn't a playmaker. He is a good passer, and accurate. But he isnt creative like you would describe a playmaker. Cutter is good at finding the open guy when he is getting pressured. He isn't threading needles, he is just real good at finding the open guy. Honestly I think his results at the WJC are an outlier. I would have been much less surprised if his line was reversed. 10 goals 2 assists.

That being said, I am happy to see how he stayed with his game and found other ways to produce when his shot was kind of all over the place. As I said he draws a lot of attention and was able to beat the pressure and find open guys.

His shot is what will separate him from the pack though. I hope he gets that back in a groove. He has to stop missing the net so much. But its hard and a quick release.

Just my opinion

It's good to know that he has that ability to make some passes and isn't just a shooter. It makes him more valuable as a player.

I can still understand being disappointed with his performance though. The kid is known as a shooter/goal scorer. There were a ton of goals scored and he only had one. It’s disappointing. Not saying he didn’t play well. Just would have like to see him stand out more. Granted I only watched the gold medal game and bits and pieces of others. From what I saw he was not really a guy who stood out. That said, that USA team had a ton a really really good players. Hard to stand out in that lineup.

Assists are assists. You're essentially saying the player that was voted the most outstanding player in the tournament was just a guy. Something doesn't add up.
- MJL

getting assists does not make you a play maker.

I'm not discouraged. so much firepower on that team, he still found his way on the scoreboard. I disagree he didn't stand out in the lineup if he was named most outstanding player in the tournament though.

Jeez. That pp looked decent for once.

Sportsnet was just saying that if the flyers pp stays this bad all year it’ll be the 4th worst all time since it has been tracked in 77 78

Still…replace a couple of those assists with goals off of big blasts from the hash marks and we’d all be feeling a lot more excited about him.

He had two goals actually. It's a small sample size of games. He had two goals in 6 games. If he didn't have the other points and played poorly, then I could see it. Most goal scorers are streaky. He was named the best player in the tournament. On the winning team and had the most points in the tournament. I'm not sure what some people want? Perfection I guess.

That he racked up 10 assists in a big game environment against the best in the world among his peers, gives me more excitement about him. We know he can score goals already. Having more elements to his game, makes him a better player potentially.

Appreciate your point of view. I’m not trying to be critical of the guy. Just wanted to see him score goals.
