Thanks York, you know I will agree and disagree on your last statement:
To the comments we go to whinge and embiggen our vocabulary (both of which are perfectly cromulent words)
Agree about the irritating persistent complaining that this group has become, (especially from the be all, know alls that absolutely hate Pettersson but refuse to admit so), what is wrong with people that they have to complain about everything and I disagree that most here should not increase their vocabulary by any means, it is not cromulent at all. Just make the dumbasses seem dumber in the end.
The team played a decent road game last night, against a pretty good team, yes the Devils were missing a few players but (regardless of all the idiots in this blog) they are still a damn fine team that the Canucks had to stay focused to win.
Again good on the team, still right at the top of the NHL with all the more coveted teams like the Rangers, Golden Knights, Bruins, Avalanche, and even the Jets, who all in here think are head and shoulders better the the poor quality the Canucks put forth, yeesh what a crowd in here. - Makita
Could it be that expectations amongst some fans are high?
I read a good quote from the Flames captain after a bad beat by the Blackhawks last night. Backlund commented after the game…
“If we want to be a playoff team, that’s a game we have to find a way to win.”
Maybe it’s just me, but it seems that the Canucks “play down” to their competition. They seem to allow bad teams to keep it close, and/or allow poor goaltenders or fringe NHL players to have career nights, like we saw against the depleted Devils (Miller with two goals, the first two goals he’s scored this season).
After a decade of watching ridiculous hockey, I think it’s time to expect more from this franchise.

I posted the other day that Canucks vs the bottom half of the league is second best record so far. |

Why?
You answered I see now. They are not really related that they can't get goaltending and their roster construction.
At the time of the signing Willy is 4th in league scoring Petey is 15th. - manvanfan

You think signing a star player is the reason they overpay a poop goaltender(s), aren't good at drafting? Overpay bottom 6 players? |

lol.
What?
You said resigning Nylander isn’t related to their roster configuration and goaltending situation. Not me.
I think the leafs should have traded any of their core 4 (core 3 really)for help in the back end.

Willy signed.
11.5/8
Full nmc.
TML are idiots and EP40 is happy. - dbot
It’ll be interesting to see how they navigate that this summer. Something has to give, you can’t compete with four forwards making over 10 million dollars each. |

No.
Trading Nylander would be reconfiguration of the roster. |

Yah?
I still think they should stop signing poop players to horrible contracts and making some Benning type trades.
Lafftery to keep Reaves
Erik Gustafsson is getting 825K for NYR when they paid Klingberg 4.15M
That Muzzin trade was bad. |

Their impending demise is going to be so deliciously sweet!! - Pacificgem
They have 14 players with trade protection in some way or another.
I did see that for next season with with their cap hits, it is 2% less then when they had all their big contracts signed last time. |

I'm clearly attempting to have a conversation with you. I guess if having a conversation is too much for you, I'll talk with someone else who's capable. |

#Canucks morning skate at MSG on Monday. Line rushes:
Pettersson-Miller-Boeser
Mikheyev-Suter-Kuzmenko
Joshua-Blueger-Garland
Höglander-Åman-Lafferty
Hughes-Hronek
Zadorov-Cole
Soucy-Myers
Demko going through the usual starter’s routine.
Lotto line remains.
If that remains, 2nd line center? I remember NY has mentioned Nick Schmaltz, near same cap hit as Kuzmenko. |

Nothing wrong with having a rotation on defense, all the 3-7 defensemen are fairly big-bodied, capa le defenders and Pk'ers.
Makes you wonder if 1 of them is a potential trade candidate |

I mean, the signing is fine individually.
But with their roster and lack of Goaltending??
So.
Does EP40 next contract start with a 12m now? - dbot
If it does they should ship EP and his gaming counsels out of town asap. |

If people are having sticker shock seeing contracts now just wait a couple years when the salary cap skyrockets |
