They were asked about the timeline repeatedly. They wanted to be honest with the fan base. I appreciate the transparency. I’m guessing it is something that would make you list as a negative if it wasn’t present here.
- coffee junkie

Were they honest with the fan base about why they failed, in this day and age, to get an answer about
why CG didn't want to play for them?

I mean really? They had no idea? Was there perhaps some acrimony about the position of play perhaps?

Wasn't that a relevant piece of info in the whole transparency thing?

Another year of college is another year not earning an NHL salary.

You have absolutely no idea as to his mental makeup, so you should just stop with this nonsense. He said he didn't want to be a Flyer, and stood his ground. Doesn't sound weak minded to me. Maybe he sees his bigger picture as different from the Flyers bigger picture.

Happens all the time. Players attend training camp and are sent back to juniors. Part of hockey.

From Charlie O'Connor today:

The Flyers clearly said that they wouldn't talk to us. Meaning Gauthier and his agent. Why should the Flyers have to find another intermediary? The professional approach is to deal directly. The Flyers aren't nor should they trust and involve a 3rd party.
- MJL

You are always skeptical what the Flyers said in the past. Yet in this instance you are taking their word like gospel.

John Tortorella “word salad, yada yada, fast, offense, young…”

Does John Tortorella even understand how to coach this kids play style? This kid is the defenseman version of Frost and we expect Torts to coach Drysdale different? Yeah right.

Maybe those begrudgingly given words of support for Frost the last 2 games means that Jonesy finally got sick of Torts’ bull stuff and told him that he was the reason they had to trade Gaultier and if he doesn’t start respecting Frost he’s going to get fired.(ie promoted to an irrelevant position)

- Shrike

No, Tortorella and the rest of the coaching staff have no idea how to coach offensive play.

Right now, I am thrilled about the Flyers having a very young RHD who can skate and shoot on the roster. This does not happen very often. Looking forward to see how this unfolds.

Have to really like the skill set. Flyers desperately need that. Hope Tortorella doesn't try and turn a thoroughbred into a harness racer.

I don’t think the kid is a diamond. If he were 6’ 3” 200 with this kind of edge work yes.

I think the flyers d coach can help this kid. Based on some real limited viewing he needs way more tenacity attacking the puck carrier and a better stick to check with. Positioning seems good.

Also he was up in the play with Anaheim a lot from what I watched. Flyers seem to think torts is cutting edge or something with how he involves defensemen. All teams would want to involve a player like drysdale offensively it doesn’t happen anymore that a player like him gets told to stay home

“Gauthier is the son of Canadian former professional ice hockey player Sean Gauthier, and was born during Sean's playing career in Sweden. Growing up, Gauthier's favourite team was the Pittsburgh Penguins”
- Just5

And Charlie McAvoy's favorite team growing up was the NY Islanders. It means nothing.

That being said, if the Penguins were able to trade with the Ducks for Gauthier ... Oh would that be great!

Torts seems to be able to help on teaching kids on the D side of the puck, lets hope that happens, plus maybe someone not wanting to play in Philly will give the 3 (add Jones and DB) of them a pause on how they move forward.

Did you hear what Torts said about Drysdale last night, that we wants him to get up on the offense more? We'll teach the kid how to play defense, but right we want him to jump up into the offense. Sure doesn't sound like Torts will hold the kid back.

Two sides of the puck. I watch other teams play, and offensively, strategy wise and systems wise, are way ahead of the Flyers.

From what I’ve read his hands aren’t nearly on par with them. He’s not on that level.

Tortorella says a lot of things. Generally doesn't mean anything. Tortorella coached teams hold everyone back offensively.

1. You dont know that. That is what you have been told. If that was true, reach out via intermediaries. Often, people will reveal the real reason off the record. I mean, there is an underlying reason for CG not wanting to play here, right? There has to be something? He is not a psychotic guy, is he?

2. Work with the kid's agent. Say we are trading you and we want a spin thats best for both of us. No need whatsoever to add all this thing about going to Sweden and him not wanting to meet us. This makes them look like a desperate partner trying their ex to not go through with divorce or something. No need to have your demented coach make comments about not knowing your best prospect in this country, one who is making hockey headlines, one who is possibly going to dress for you this year, from a "hole in the wall". It makes you look like an idiot.

Just say Cutter thought his future was different than what we think is best for him. We wish him the best. We are very excited to have Drysdale.

If Cutter truly didn't want to say what the issue was, it is likely deeper than wing/center. Maybe he saw organizational dysfunction, so deep that he knew it couldn't be corrected. How would you feel about whether he was right in his assessment based on how this matter was handled?

- PT21

How were they supposed to work with his agent when the player and his agent wouldn't talk to them? I can't imagine the Flyers are lying about that part of the story.

So what would it be that would keep him from reaching that level? His hands and puck skills or his size. What size are Hughes, Makar and Fox?

You may be overstating this a bit. He's going to get 40+ goals out of TK (1 time 30G scorer). Aren't they top 3 in the league in goals for players under 26? It's an uphill battle with this roster though. Although I do admit the PP has found new and improved ways to suck, the talent has to be there. This team lacks a top-tier finishing so they have to play system hockey.

His hands and puck skills. But with added size you have a more unique player with the skating ability
