lets say they didnt, tells you what think of Jamie to let him go for possibly noting.

Well with the emergence of Mintyukov this season and Helleson, Luneau and Zellweger in the pipeline plus the fact Anaheim will most likely be at the bottom this year...making Richardinson or Levshunov a real possibility...

The best deals always involve giving away something to get something, not Buzz trades of poop leftovers for gold.

There are two sides to every story obviously, but wouldn't surprise me a bit if it turns out that Hayes has a hand in this if these guys are close. Hayes felt wildly disrespected here, so why wouldn't he have a vendetta against the Flyers organization.

Blessing in disguise...if the Flyers traded Cutter to Ottawa for Sanderson and a 2nd would that be different? Honestly the only difference is the cap hit....both great skating high picks.

Drysdale getting injured could be the best thing to happen to the Flyers, getting this kind of prospect is hard to squeeze out of a team without giving up a 1st and prospects.

In fairness to SanFillipo he reported he spoke with someone in the organization who told him "This has Kevin Hayes fingerprints all over it". SanFillipo was reporting information, not formulating a personal opinion. I can certainly believe a member of the organization would feel that way. Is it the right opinion? Probably not.

Hopefully it's a learning lesson for the Flyers about going out spending on UFAs for long term out of desperation. Still going to be paying Hayes for 3 MORE YEARS.

From the Athletic this morning:

Pronman: Well, for one, I’m not sure Gauthier is a center. I’m especially not sure he is in Anaheim. Unless you’re putting him on line three, I’d much prefer Carlsson or McTavish in the middle. Gauthier has always had minor hockey-sense questions in regard to whether he can be a true premium center as a pro, and I think given Anaheim’s depth chart, he’s more likely to play the wing. I feel like Zegras moving to the wing is an inevitability, too. It gives the team flexibility, though. Do you want a loaded top six? Or do you want three very good centers? Maybe Scott is higher on Gauthier than I am, but I don’t think he’s in the same conversation as Carlsson/Zegras/McTavish, at least as of now. He’s excellent, but he’s a step or two below for me.

Really is amazing that the top prospect in the organization is traded for a player 75% of fans have never heard of. This while the team is being poop pumped by the Penguins. Unreal really even for them.

Are you a flyers fan? Everything you say is negative against the flyers....pens fans?

Bill,

Hypothetically Cutter plays out his college years, decides to test the waters...does Anaheim still get the same compensation as if it was their draft pick?

As long as this kid doesn't keep on piling up the injuries. It just concerns me that such a young player has already had the injuries that he has had. He's only 21 and already has had a laundry list of injuries and that was probably the only reason that he was made available (along with the depth at the defensive position).

Last time this team swapped high end youngsters it was JVR for Luke Schenn.

Sure hope it works out better this time around...

I see your point, but Homer signed Briere the summer after the Flyers had the worst record in the league. Hayes came with baggage that Fletcher chose to ignore. I think dabbling in free agency can work, but the organization must proceed very cautiously.

I can't wait for his first game against the Flyers, I hope Sanheim checks him through the boards.

Doubtful. Gauthier has been getting pointers from Nathan Gerbe.

The difference in this scenario is i see more potential in both players. Hated the JvR pick and hated the Schenn pick more.

both parties come off looking bad. IMO much worse for the flyers. What about this new culture they brag about ....

I watched the game last night. That is, it was on the TV and I was staring at it. But this trade had me so shocked that I couldn't tell you one thing about what happened in the game itself.

yes you have to give to get. That wasnt my point. If the ducks have no guarantee form Cutters camp then that is dumb trade on their part. I have to assume they have his "word" he will sign.

That's what separates the good from the bad, not the decision, but the end result. Flyers need to know the result will be good and stop hoping.

I agree. I think the only one who looks bad in the whole thing is Gauthier.

I agree. Not at all a fan of Hilferty or with Jones in this role but I agree with them on this. If Gauthier doesn't want to play for the Flyers, screw him.
- MJL

Are we all in agreement for once. F Cutter, he better keep his head up.

Perhaps that's why they announced the trade when they did. To make folks forget about the awful game they were watching. If it wasn't for Hart that could have been 10-1. I think the Pens had something like 24 high danger chances. If they stay healthy they are going to be hard to keep out of the playoffs although they are probably too old to really do anything once they get there. The Flyers have looked tired lately with the possible exception of the Calgary game.

I agree that would be very foolish to do, but what you explained happens a lot. Cutter wouldn't pick up for the Flyers, what's there to go on that he would pick up for Anaheim?

Does Cutter have "Don't answer" for the Flyers and "Yay" for everyone else, or is he in his self absorbed bubble as a kid saying "I'm not worrying about that stuff now, later maybe"?

to think a former player
to think a former player will have influence over a guy, who has never played in the nhl, to demand out is funny to me. You think his agent is going to let Hayes dictate anything and hurt the agents reputation for his future? Even bad agents are not that dumb.

This is the flyers circling the wagons and putting stuff out there. Deflection.

The majority of talk in every nhl dressing room right now is what is going on with the flyers. They now have the spotlight on them for the wrong reasons.

Torts seemed to suggest that they'll play seven and carry eight. He doesn't think any of the current six deserve to come out and they won't disrespect Staal by waiving him.
