I dont think the flyers look bad in this situation at all.
- bradster

that's your opinion and misguided. They 100% look bad.

What changed this players mind in a matter of months? To walk out doe snot look good for the flyers at all.

Wait the Flyers traded Michkov too?
- Glak18

I will believe Michkov when I see him playing games for the Flyers. When do you figure that will be?

Are we all in agreement for once. F Cutter, he better keep his head up.
Who do you see as the odd dman out? They cannot carry 8 dmen.

- WhiskeyMan

No question Staal, but I'm torn between Seeler and Zamula. I think Torts goes rotation until another deal happens. Nothing wrong with having depth, especially the way people go down all the time around the league.

That's my only question about Michkov, whether he actually comes to NA, but as to who the best prospect is...Michkov handing his jock to Cutter.

As long as this kid doesn't keep on piling up the injuries. It just concerns me that such a young player has already had the injuries that he has had. He's only 21 and already has had a laundry list of injuries and that was probably the only reason that he was made available (along with the depth at the defensive position).
- Phillywhiteout

this is the part of the trade that should be questioned. Damaged good already at 21? with the flyers medical staff even more worrisome

to think a former player
to think a former player will have influence over a guy, who has never played in the nhl, to demand out is funny to me. You think his agent is going to let Hayes dictate anything and hurt the agents reputation for his future? Even bad agents are not that dumb.

This is the flyers circling the wagons and putting stuff out there. Deflection.

The majority of talk in every nhl dressing room right now is what is going on with the flyers. They now have the spotlight on them for the wrong reasons.

I'd like to know how you can be so sure that this isn't the case? I certainly am not claiming that I know it's the case in the other direction, but it's certainly possible. I mean, this kid seems to hate the Flyers organization. What gives? Where did that cone from?

That's what separates the good from the bad, not the decision, but the end result. Flyers need to know the result will be good and stop hoping.
- Glak18

So do you think Briere takes a run at Sam Reinhart? And would that be a good idea considering the organizational depth behind Coots is severely lacking?

Hopefully it's a learning lesson for the Flyers about going out spending on UFAs for long term out of desperation. Still going to be paying Hayes for 3 MORE YEARS.
- Glak18

It’s a just a further reminder of how awful Chuck Fletcher was and that they’re still going to be dealing with the consequences of his tenure.

The real context is "matter of months" AFTER he was drafted....before organizational changes...not the last few months.

Torts seemed to suggest that they'll play seven and carry eight. He doesn't think any of the current six deserve to come out and they won't disrespect Staal by waiving him.
- Tomahawk

Hate the 11 forwards 7 D alignment. One injury in game and you are essentially down to 3 lines.

That said Deslauriers is awful and should not see the ice.

I agree that would be very foolish to do, but what you explained happens a lot. Cutter wouldn't pick up for the Flyers, what's there to go on that he would pick up for Anaheim?

Does Cutter have "Don't answer" for the Flyers and "Yay" for everyone else, or is he in his self absorbed bubble as a kid saying "I'm not worrying about that stuff now, later maybe"?

- Glak18

you don't give up what they did without him saying he would play there imo.

I’m going with 2026, since that’s when his KHL contract expires.

I can't speak for the Flyers intentions, but for me personally Reinhart is an absolute no go...I wouldn't even entertain Stamkos unless it was under 3 years and reasonable cap hit.

lol, they dont look bad at all.

just spit balling here, but cutter wanted to be on the team this year, and wasnt happy flyers wanted him in college another year. Wouldnt be surprised if hayes had an influence also. They are close. Hayes is close to everyone in the boston area.

Kinda a big question no? The fact there is any chance of him not coming is very concerning.

I thought it was April 1st when I first read the story. Briere flying to Europe and Cutter won't come out of his room? I was waiting for the punchline. I can't remember anything quite like this before.
I, too, think it has Hayes written all over it. This just isn't a normal hockey story
And yeah, Torts may be no fun, but the team was noticeably better the day Hayes left, and the guys are playing much better hockey under Torts and his staff (minus the hilarious pp).

I dont think it was right after he was drafted. It was this past May 2023 is how I read it.

if it was right after he was drafted then damn, that is even worse.

You're referring to "in theory" and it is a possibility they did ask, but what I believe is it happens less than what you think...I know risky.

We will find out real shortly if they talked to him, if they did Cutter or camp will at least have a statement. If not, it's going to be "oh we just heard about the traded and surprised".

lol they do. when a guy you drafted 5th overall tells you to pound sand it is not a good look. Not sure how anyone can argue any differently

What I read was Danny saying "He was born to be a Flyer" when he was drafted then it changed months after and would not communicate after.

Cutter, “I was built to be a Flyer”. A year and some change later they won’t talk to the Flyers ? Something happened and we will probably never know.

Of course it is, I was one of one of the biggest advocates of shying away from drafting him because of that very reason, but his skill is undeniable (if he was Canadian he would of been battling Bedard for #1 or the very least a shoe in for #2).

I am curious what they do over the next 2 summers. Frost is out of contract next summer. I just cannot see them offering a 3rd contract to him, unless he turns into an All Star. Poehling is a 4th line center. Laughton cannot play center at a high level. No centers really in the AHL. Can Barkey play center at the NHL? I do think Briere feels pretty good about his blueline long term at the moment.
