sadly no, the NHL has nothing to do with the women league.
it is owned by Mark Walter an American businessman and the chief executive officer of Guggenheim Partners, a privately held global financial services firm with more than $325 billion in assets under management and headquarters in Chicago and New York. He is also the part-owner and chairman of the Major League Baseball franchise Los Angeles Dodgers and co-owner of Premier League club Chelsea F.C. |

Ok. But looks like it’ll be a problem in the states. It’ll only go down from there |

I guess you're gonna have to do a lot of this fact-checking lol... for some reason a lot of hockey fans like to look down on women's hockey, without really knowing what they're talking about.

Women’s hockey is actually not bad to watch. Much better than basketball. Just concerning when it’s 2200 fans in nyc. |

I'm not personally a big women's hockey fan, but even if the NHL were keeping them afloat (although that seems to have been debunked already in another comment)....who cares?
I don't give a damn if the NHL owners are paying to help out the women's league in the slightest. |

There’s a lot of interest in Minnesota. They have strong youth programs and more girls and women play here than any other state. It will be bumpy but it would be good to see them eventually thrive. |

How many of these tickets are just given away to girls teams and youth programs? A lot. Which is fine. That's how you develop a fanbase when the product itself is light years away from the best men in the world. I know people get really angry when I say that, but it's just the hard reality. If you had an alien visit the earth who didn't understand that there were two genders and had them watch an NHL game, an AHL game, a college game, a high school game, and then a women's game. How would the alien rank them? No different than basketball, soccer, UFC, etc... |

it isn't because men are physically stronger that it makes women's sports automatically less entertaining. you don't have to watch it or like it but women's hockey has evolved over the years, it isn't just a bunch of princesses trying to be cute. there's quite a discrepancy between men and women at tennis for example, but women's tennis is still doing quite well. |

I never said anything about cute princesses.
There are some sports when the extra strength and speed of men can detract from the entertainment value. Tennis is a great example. The best men in the world tend to hold serve and smash away. Women's tennis can be more cerebral, with more net play, and more uncertainty of the outcome. I would prefer to watch professional women than men. But there are many other sports where the extra strength and speed is not a detraction, but adds to the appeal. If I'm going to watch a 100 meter Olympic Final, I want to see the men. Sorry. If I want to watch a basketball game, I want to see Lebron dunk. If I want to see a baseball game, I want to see a guy pitch 100 miles per hour and a homerun out of the ballpark. And if I want to see a hockey game I want to see the fastest human beings, with the hardest shots. Sorry. And if I want to see tennis, I probably choose a women's game. I like women's beach volleyball too

sooo you don't like women's sports, that's fine, no need to be "sorry" lol.
still doesn't make sense to me though why it's less entertaining if you aren't witnessing the "hardest shots" in the world, if it's high enough calibre then the product should still be entertaining.
by your reasoning I guess you don't watch any junior sports either, because since they're younger men they mostly aren't as strong yet as their veteran counterparts. |

I watch some girl”s youth hockey because I have a family connection with one of the players. I’m surprised by the improvement I’ve seen from her in a short period of time. I don’t watch with the expectation of seeing the same skill level of boys her age. But I do expect the same level of compete, teamwork, responsibility, accountability and the push to get better.
Minnesota has so many options for good hockey and a fan only has so much time. So yes, the biggest hurdle they face is getting crowded out by so many options to fans. |
