The NYI announcers call their players by their nicknames or by first names. And then proceed to butcher Lilly’s name repeatedly. Lol

It sounds so Unprofessional “Barzy with a great pass there to Dobber” etc. like (frank) off your not Jonsey and Reily from Letterkenny.

(frank)ing embarrassing bud! Lol

Aah who was that fella saying Cornwire? 🤪

Marner was on the ice for 3 against though.🤣
- jribout

Still could happen, but damn theyve looked good.

Marner was on ice on 5 goals. 2 for and 3 against. Both for was EV, therefore 2+. Of the 3 against, 2 was on Isles PP, therefore only 1-. 2+ -1 = +1.
Willie was only on ice when Isles scored EV, therefore -1.

Capiche.
My feeling is if marner was on the ice for 5 goals, 2 for and 3 against, he should be -1...but i guess they take pk's into consideration.

Still not a fan of +/-

Oh damm that doesn’t sound good.

The other thing I thought sucked in the NYI broadcast was they call the blue line “the blue” and the centre line “the red”. I’m like nobody calls it that you pylons. Lol

- Cush29

Pat Quinn called it the blue.

I was also unaware of the fact the +/- is not impacted if a player is on the ice and give up a goal when on the PK. Does a player get a + if you they are on the ice and you score a short handed goal?

So anyone who says a player with a crummy +/- isn't because the player is bad it's because they kill penalties is using a false narrative.

Interesting and I guess is some ways makes the +/- more meaningful?

Dammit now I don't hate it so much but I somehow doubt Mutt and Jeff the NYI broadcasters are using that term due to Pat Quinn. lol

+/- is only an even strength stat.

Yeah, I'll be that guy:

If you score short-handed, that's a +.

If you give up a short-handed goal, that's a -.

Have we signed Perry yet?

I'm assuming MLSE will hold a news conference at the Brunswick House, just before last call.

Sorry ...you're right. The bonus provisions for those hardworking PK'ers.

Also ....is Gio done? He looked a little rough last night.

If you are basing your assessment off of last night, let's start with McCabe first.

Ignore the OT and McCabe was pretty good.

Rielly n Brodie were great.
McCabe and Benoit were solid.
Lilly was okay.
Gio struggled.

I noticed the Isles were trying to match Horvat's line on Gio whenever they could. When they had the match up Gio struggled.

Isles first PP goal ...Jones with the miss on the blocker save ..but Gio has got to do better in front.

He's been alright but looked out of gas at times last night. I think he ends up being #7 come playoffs.

The bad blocker save was weird, and he sorta did it again later in the game.

WTF?
