I’ve got big time Oiler fans in the family and my kid is marrying into Canuckites. Losing early gives me time to process the whole thing: hockey is stupid, refs hate us, wait until next year. If Vancouver or Edmonton actually won, I would have had time to distance myself from the horror. If they won and the Leafs lost in the same game, I’d have to take drastic action.

Sister-in-law also brought a crazy array of beers for me for Christmas dinner (she’s franking awesome). The only ones left are the ones I’m terrified to try.
