Habs only have 8 regulation wins (tied for lowest in the league). So about 60% of their points have come from OT / SO or OT losses. This season, quite frankly, is on a knife edge is being a total disaster.

I did not expect much from this season (or even next season) beyond effort (and that has been missing a lot more than I would have liked to see), but the season has so far gone worse than I expected, even if I thought they would end up in the 23-26th overall rankings. If not for the non-regulation points, they'd be fighting with SJ for 1st overall.

With all the injuries, only a few bright spots have emerged. At least there is that...

Hopefully guys like Monahan stay healthy and the Habs can package him for prospects / picks and make some other big moves at the draft.

while I get what you're saying, going to so many OTs can also be considered as kind of a good thing, considering that they were able to keep those games close and give themselves a chance to win.

I know he isn't a legend but Roussel's pads would probably be worth more than that today lol.

I get that.

But if they had given more effort more often, then maybe they would not have ended up in OT so often either?

I am conflicted by this season.

I get the injuries are part of the issue, and that cannot be ignored, but I am just not seeing as much personal growth from players as I expected this season. Maybe I expected too much, but I am just seeing the same players making the same mistakes over and over.

And there are too many nights when the whole team does not show up to compete.

Kinda frustrating.

I was ready for the losses, just not like they have been losing some of these games.

The Habs recent play, combined with their strength of schedule in the 2nd half of the season (Habs have the 2nd toughest schedule left in the league), we might want to prep for more of these losses.

Add to some trades likely to happen, too, that will weaken the team depth.

Might be a long second half of the season.
