The Habs recent play, combined with their strength of schedule in the 2nd half of the season (Habs have the 2nd toughest schedule left in the league), we might want to prep for more of these losses.
- Snots33_77

yeah, this kind of reaction after an awful loss to the sharks is to be expected. if they win the next 2 and Caufield scores in each we'll say things are back on track.

Add to some trades likely to happen, too, that will weaken the team depth.

Might be a long second half of the season.

so gloomy, whatever

Like I said, I just expected more compete levels and less errors, wins did not matter.

Not really getting any consistency or reduction in errors.

That is the frustrating part, for me.

the compete level wasn't there for the last 2 games, I'll grant you that. before that the effort wasn't much of an issue imho.

I get that.

But if they had given more effort more often, then maybe they would not have ended up in OT so often either?

I am conflicted by this season.

I get the injuries are part of the issue, and that cannot be ignored, but I am just not seeing as much personal growth from players as I expected this season. Maybe I expected too much, but I am just seeing the same players making the same mistakes over and over.

And there are too many nights when the whole team does not show up to compete.

Kinda frustrating.

I was ready for the losses, just not like they have been losing some of these games.

- Mashadar

I agree. I also don’t see a balanced focus on the rebuild either. Seems to be all defence. I realize they take longer to develop……but it seems like by the time we will be ready, we will need almost a different team of players due to the length of time and lack of progress.

St. Louis needs experienced help and enough with the concepts approach. It just seems like he’s letting g them play free to keep making the same mistakes over and over.

It is confusing. All the while knowing that this takes time. I really hope that we aren’t goi g to be Buffalo in terms of rebuilds

All those periods this season with 5 or less shots say otherwise, but whatever.

if it isn't a ridiculous overpayment and on a decent term (not too many years) I'm all for keeping Monahan, he's been great.

Hahaha! I wouldn’t say back on track after that. Their overall record is cause for concern due to the 15 OT appearances this season. It really skews reality. Like trying to rebuild a team through a ridiculous amount of injuries.

they still managed to keep a lot of those games close despite having a bad period, but whatever.

Everyone, except MSL, seems to know he needs a veteran mentor to help him out.

They had plenty of chances to get someone in, yet always refuse to do that, going with more inexperienced coaches.

not to contradict you on everything but upper management also has a thing to say on this, it wasn't all MSL's call.

but I agree he needs some help.

I agree. Keeping him wouldn’t be the end of the world right now. If the price and term is ok. But you still have to keep his injury history in mind.

Seems like he was signed with the expectation, on Monahan's part, that the Habs would try to send him to a contender at the deadline.

agreed, hence why I'm saying they can't sign him for too many years either.

MSL said early on in his NHL coaching g career that the game was too fast for him behind the bench and he often got caught up in the play to mind the lines.

If I’m upper management, that would have caught my ear and got him some help instead of having rookies on the ice AND behind the bench.

yeah, gotta say I was also a bit surprised no one else was brought on board, I expect some changes to be done this summer.

Yep. Hughes just said that to the media. I fully expect him to be gone. I just hope we get something decent that will help us.

Not just more pics to use on oft-injured players 2-3 years removed from their draft years…..

Habs have too many picks, if they end up with 3 or 4, they are not gonna pick one of the D... so I expect a big trade to happen.

Let’s hope!! With the right, experienced coaches behind the bench….this rebuild could speed up exponentially
