Or…. And check this out ask their high priced forwards to perhaps come back a little deeper and help the D in this regard of making better breakout passes along with sharper and crisper exits… - dozerD10
The high priced forwards have been playing to their capabilities defensively.
Mantthews has been a beast as always. |

isnt that Benoit?
i guess, I wouldnt say dominant... but who in the league qualifies then? - senstroll
They need a 20+ minute guy who's good in his own end but can also move the puck (ie. make the first pass). I'm not sure any are available ...Tanev might be the closest thing.
Benoit or Boosh or Gudas ....3rd pairing plugs. |

Yeah Leafs do not need a Seeler or Boosh.
If Tanev was a pure rental I would pass...but Tre knows him, he is a Toronto boy, is on the last legs of his career..If Tre gets him its because he knows he can sign him to a decent deal. He is not exactly what the Leafs need but he helps now and next year if they get him.
Ferraro interests me. Some cost certainty as well.
Chickenrun is the dream.
And signing Perry is a must. |

If one of those become available sweet.
Looking at the leafs they actually have some D that are really good defenders.
Lilejregren, Brodie, Benoit, McCabe. The issue is Brodie has lost any remaining ability to move the puck, Benoit is a pure defensive guy, McCabe seems to have gotten better offensively but still he is just holding his head above water there.
Leafs don’t have enough puck movers, I’m not sure if getting another “defensive D man” is a good idea unless he can move the puck WELL not just okay. - Santo_44
I factor chemistry into the mix too. Rielly and Brodie mix well together ..I wouldn't (frank) with that. Lilly on the 3rd pair can move the puck and a Gio or Benoit as a partner makes sense to me. McCabe needs a partner that help that pair be the "stoppers" but, like you said, can make the first pass and move the puck. Hanifin sounds nice but I think Tanev might end up being the best available to the Leafs. Unless Seattle sinks and Larsson becomes available. |

Yeah Tanev is probably the guy.
Maybe they get 2...depends on who is available and if they decide Sammy isnt worth having as a 3rd goalie. |

And I'm expecting a 3rd line upgrade ..probably at centre. It's the weakest link right now.
Domi-Henrique-Jarnkrok .....something like that.
I'm not sure I see Perry-Domi-Jarnkrok as a good option. |

You tell me. Why should I believe they’re any different this year?
I have no problem telling you the flyers are playing above their means and are probably watching the playoffs - Just5
You're right, the Leafs are still a top contender.

Watch and find out. Leaf fans have nothing to prove to Flyer fans. We have no problem with you thinking they're a pile of poop and Gautheir is being sodomized by Satan. |

Tanev would likely be a rental for the simple fact that he'll play the same amount of games as a rental over the 3 year deal he signs. |

Sens maybe because Forsberg sustained a groin injury last night and very well may be out long term.
Who knows maybe Tre is working on a mega deal with Calgary that has Marky, Tanev and more coming to Toronto with Sammy and obviously lots more going the other way.
Makes me remember getting back from a sunny vacation to the DR and while waiting for my car to be brought up at the Valet Park and Fly in Toronto glancing at a newspaper and seeing the mega deal between the Leafs and Flames that brought our savior Dion Phew-Nuff to Toronto.............

I don't agree but I feel Tre may agree with you.
I don't see the need to spend much on that bottom 6. Add Perry for free and send a late pick on a rental. |

I see you read 'Trolling for Dummies' eh?
Come in and pretend to be here to just talk hockey.
Then chirp and await a reaction while claiming you don't care about your own team because you expect them to be bad.
Then double down with an incredibly insightful view to the future because you know so much.
No wonder people hate Philly fans and young, bright future NHL players don't want to play in Philly & then get death threats for it.
Jesus Christ.

This would not shock me, he still hasn't made his trade yet. I like Mark I would just need some heavy retention.
I was skiing during that trade |

Tanev has been surprisingly healthy over the last 3 years. |
