Thanks NYN. Look forward to the next blog you mentioned.
As for Canucks they keep adjusting their game and it’s working well. |

I wonder if Sidney Crosby would entertain a trade, to the Canucks, to end his career chasing another Cup....or two? #pipedreams - Pacificgem

Everyone who isnt winning wants to win. Half the players in the league must want trades I guess.
Media asks dumb set up questions and you are damned if you do or don't answer them. Narrative would be he is content with losing and is a cancer if he said otherwise.
QH said he is sick of losing. Miller expressed how unhappy he was in multiple ways.
Petey never said anything that suggests he didnt want to win with the Canucks. It's a nothing story that some people won't let go. - boonerbuck
It's a story because he hasn't signed an extension and there's been no indication that one is even imminent or that the team and Petey are in the same ballpark. I agree that he's probably going to get signed, but you have to admit, he hasn't exactly been all that keen on saying that he definitely wants a deal done. Clearly he's going to wait until the end of the year and see where the Canucks are at and what their future plans are before he decides either way which is why it'll continue to be a story until either he signs or pulls a Matthew Tkachuk and demands a trade. |

Apparently Petey scoring the GWG four games in a row has only been done three times in NHL history. |

It was a blown out of proportion long before the decision to just focus on playing the season out. Also, Rutherford said in an interview I posted in here a few days ago that they would like Petey to just focus on playing hockey and they will get a deal done in the summer. I don't see that as any indication they don't want him... They are both saying the same thing about waiting.
Same people talking/reporting this story about Petey wanting to play for a winner also hitched their wagon to him wanting to play for the Hawks. Sure, he wants to both play for a winner and gamble on another rebuild/retool just as this team is in good hands showing a very promising future... as he steamrolls to another 100+ season. Love the conflicting logic.

Most of the winning teams don't have the cap space for what Petey is supposedly (I use that term loosely because it's speculation from Friedman and his cronies and parroted by the Vancouver media) looking for. Not to mention if the Canucks were to trade him, they'd want the moon for him, and that would cripple any team trading for him. |

Exactly. More reality contradicting the narrative.

A lot of talk on Markie on the move. Tanev will not be back. Benning knew all along. Ahead of his time. |

Remind me again, what did Benning get for those 2? They were 4 years younger at the time, I’m sure it was something substantial.

Cap space for Garland. Players with a full set of teeth. Time to work on the floods. The list is endless.

Don’t forget OEL came with Garland, not having to worry about who to draft at #9. The rewards are endless. |

Oel is doing fine with Fla. He is not the first or only player to stink when playing for Canucks. The list is long.
As I said yesterday that OEL buyout is a blessing. They can't spend foolishly while their prospects develop.

When we first started looking around, our realtor took us to San Poncho. Showed us a neighborhood with 3 or 4 Kelowna people living in it. That was enough not to look there.
It’s really grown into a very nice town, the hike from Sayulita through the jungle is a great trip. Ending with cervesas and nachos on the beach.
Sorry to hear you’re back to reality, I’ll make sure I visit your favourite beach bar for a marg at sunset. - K-man25
You mentioned in the last blog about fixing up a bodega. Instantly reminded me of a great Bill Burr bit...

That's one way to look at it. Not what I'd classify a blessing though. There's nothing to suggest our management would foolishly spend it if they had it. If anything this group has made some pretty shrewd moves. |

This year I agree.
I would wait until after this summer to say I am happy with the signings.

They are going to have to continue to make shrewd moves to deal with the upcoming ELO dead cap space.
2023-24 $146,667
2024-25 $2,346,667
2025-26 $4,766,667
2026-27 $4,766,667
2027-28 $2,126,667
2028-29 $2,126,667

I still disagree. If they continue to make signings like Suter Joshua Blueger Lafferty plus the fact by the time the 4.7 mil penalties kick in they will have DPetey Willander Likker Podz and Hog.
This will stop them from giving Petey 13 mil and Myers 5, Hronek 8.

I like that they aren't handing a lot of term to periphery players. They also seem to have a much better eye for value than Benning ever had. Makes the OEL buyout easier to digest. I also believe this Coaching staff helps as far as maximizing players potentials.
Gotta hand it to Rutherford. He came in with the culture change mantra and he followed through. I think waaay sooner than most expected. |

The coaching staff has really helped but also Brock Hughes Petey Demko are coming into their prime ages. They are facing the perfect storm.
Smart trades like Miller Hronek Zadorov, everything is coming together all at once. OEL dead cap will only be a small inconvenience but as I said will probably save themselves from making some stupid decisions. Much like the Leafs did.
I have always liked Garland he is driving a third line to play like a second line. |

I think those were shrewd moves and, like you said above, will need to continue to make similar moves. Hopefully Allvin keeps on rolling. I'm not as hyped on the prospect pool as others. We will see.

The pouty moniker sure has disappeared.
Keep the good vibes going.
Onto the next.
Oh. And thanks NyN - dbot
He is still a pouty little b!tch. But he has been fantastic the last couple weeks. I guess they need to cater to all of his childish demands if it will get him to produce at an elite level |
