We’re the fans violent or doing damage to the stadium? I hope the were just rooting against him and not vandalizing the place.
At some point, I’m there already, it’s time to forget about him move on and be happy with the Drysdale and the pick. Until he plays a game in Philly then he gets it loud boos again! Old school Philly style, nothing physical but loud and in his face 6 feet apart as part of the CDC of course.
If you want to know why I think this way… I’d like to tell you but it’s a private matter!! - Hosher12
From what I understand it was security trying to not let them in. Nothing crazy happened. |

Thanks, I appreciate your take on it... and again in an ideal hockey world, it would optimize the scoring chances -- albeit lessening the defensive aspect... since d-men are more accustomed and better at defending, and playing skating backwards in a natural manner -- but I again emphasize that this is/was far from a ideal situation... a broken inefficient failure of a PP in a natural environment... When normal actions fail season after season, why not think out of the box... why not increase the odds of getting a goal by reducing the advantages that just isn't working? How many times have we heard people say in semi-jest; "can we decline the PP... (we have a better chance of scoring without it)? Again, hopefully this will be a moot discussion going forward... Has Torts & Co. Ever considered it on a regular basis? We know they have on occasions, such as in the Habs game... and he did play with two d-men on 3x3 on a regular basis. I'm just curious. - ForeverFlyer16
Well ...pretty much everyone seems to play the 1-3-1 (or is it the 3-1-1?) nowadays. And we have scored 4 pp goals in 4 games.
There is one element that Drysdale brings that we have lacked. His ability to move laterally quickly facing the net, with sharp stops and starts, and his threat to shoot, is always going to draw the defending forward out as long as #9 keeps it honest by being a credible threat to fire a decent shot on net.
That forward will always need to brace himself, go down a little on his skates, when Drysdale lifts his blade. If that shot is faked, that forward will take a second to recover and there should be always exploitable space on Drysdale's left. That was what we saw to an exaggerated extent with the Frost goal against Habs (terrible coverage, shouldn't be that much space).
If one guy comes out to block and another to block the pass to his left, there will be a lot of space near the net, and 3 F against 2 D there. If Foerster is indeed a sniper, that could be a good position for him in the future as a right-handed shot, hover and try and pick a spot near left face off dot to unload.
That's my take on it.
(Btw, Provorov would drive me nuts. He barely moved laterally and when he did, the entire sequence was way too predictable.
And I simply don't think Couturier can ever be a key cog in a modern pp, because he just isn't a quick enough skater for the hyper-fast interchanging of positons that goes on nowadays. Having said that, such is the infatuation with Couturier on this forum, that I am certain this would not be an accepted insight ha ha)

Drysdale got away with an obvious penalty on the GWG sequence so it went both ways last night. - MJL I actually just saw the replay on big screen TV. I had earlier seen it on my phone. Upon further review I have to agree that it was a penalty. He pulled on the top of his hockey pants to gain leverage.

Hathaway has never scored a PP but if you want net front why not try him on the 2nd PP. Laughton seems to be out there simply because talent is diluted and he is experienced at taking face offs. - Minnyhock
Laughton produced decently on the PP in 22/23.

Yeah, there doesn’t seem to be someone who is a better option. Teams are scoring PPs from distance by getting guys out of position and goalies not set with a point guy with Drysdale skills. I would keep him out there from 1:30 to the whole PP if he shows he can handle it.

the 1-3-1 and a 3-1-1 are two different PP alignments. The 3-1-1 is better known as the Umbrella. The idea of the 1-3-1 is to create scoring triangles on the ice. It creates 4 potential triangles and can be ran from the point, the half wall or from the goal line. The main concept of the umbrella is to outman the PKers in the slot area to open up room for the 3 high attackers to move the puck around and create shots.

I’ll be watching but if we are able to get any points this game it’ll be an absolute steal |

Oof. They already struggle offensively. This could be quite the snooze fest. |

They’re punting the game. For obvious reasons. Torts basically said so postgame last night |

Absolutely the case. We see the difference he’s made in comparison to the last two years without him. I think ersson will need to stand on his head. Thank goodness scheiffle and Connor are out for the jets. Just maybe it won’t be a blowout. |

Obtaining Drysdale does make my initial question a bit past-shelflife... I honestly feel that he can, and probably will right the ship when it comes to the PP. As long as the wingers do their job with his feeds. In the first game with the Flyers, he displayed his talents... I'm honest when I say that I was impressed watching him in the pre-game warmup... he is smooth, and even during the warmup, his lateral motion ability was very noticeable. |

I think I read best defensive team and third best offensively. No shock that they’re 1st overall. I see the surprising capitals beat the rags today. Rags have had some struggles of late. We’re only 4 points behind them haha that’s kind of funny. |

A make non-call by the Officials who had a chance to see the blatant delay of game they missed that directly led to a Wild goal... possibly? |
