Holy poop! Torts is giving frost a shot at 1c with some real talent.
I know it's cold outside but not cold enough for hell to have frozen over.
I'm hoping frost has a big game tonight and takes advantage of this opportunity - Bob Habib

No, overrated implies that some people place too much value on it. As if it is imperative that Konecny be given the C due to the way he is playing. In my opinion, you need more than one leader. I actually agree with what Tortorella in my opinion is trying to do here. He wants every player to take on a chunk of leadership. To take responsibility for leading by example. To build a team. I think your response supports my opinion. What's more important? Actually displaying the leadership qualities or displaying the letter on your sweater? I don't think Tortorella wants a hierarchy in the room. He wants a collective. - MJL
Will wonders ever cease? Angels and ministers of grace, defend us!
I agree wholeheartedly with what this year's Jack Adam's award winner is trying to build with this team. |

On the other hand, Frost needs to take advantage of this shot. - wcorvette
Needs to score in the first 5 minutes of the game or that will be the end of that.

Has he played on the same line as TK this season? I honestly have no idea
But I am excited to see if frosty can feed those two some pucks tonight |

Bruins did their job, 3-0 over Devils. Pittsburgh wins however. I wonder if the Devils are really good enough to make the playoffs? I am starting to think they are what they are. |

Another game without Coots. Any clue what the injury is or is it top secret? |

Tippett and Frost have seen a lot of time together. Konency has had chemistry with Couturier most of the season and with this the team has had a lot of success. There’s never been a reason to pair Konency and Frost together until now. |

It doesn’t really. As I mentioned, there’s a reason in the military people wear rank and don’t just do leadership by committee. It’s important not only to recognize the leader ( it’s a great honour) , but to enhance that leaders authority to lead. It’s the only real thing I have as a critique on torts. Further, we see how important coots is as the leader of this team. To not have him with at least an a, and having laughts wear one is beyond ridiculous. Further, if the idea is to not have a hierarchy, why does laughts wear an a? Thats where this makes no sense. There’s your hierarchy. For your argument to hold water there would be no letters on anyone.
If it’s such a novel and effective way of building a team how come all other teams have captains and assistants even those rebuilding? |

I have never seen a more dedicated poster in my life. Cliff is on here every day for 12-16 hours.
We need to recognize his dedication. I would like to name February 1 as the official MJL day going forward. Would like to get some feedback from others to see if this is something we want to recognize.
Maybe Bill can even dedicate a blog to him on that day. - hello it's me 2050
Honestly I have to agree with this. This dude bleeds hockey buzz. I could go on a 10 year hiatus and know without a shadow of a doubt MJL is being an arrogant smug moron making 20-30 posts per day in Bills blogs. |

I would also have promoted frost just to see how he makes out with better wingers. Heck I’d advocate for him getting an extended look there. I bet you he’d do well. Regardless, we will need to get some centre talent in here asap through draft and trade. I had stated that we should spend both firsts on dmen, but that has changed with JD in the fold. I could see DB supplementing the draft with a trade to bring in a young prospect who’s already at the nhl level. - Hextall271
I truly believe Tortorella does not want him to succeed. Someone is going to get a Patrick Sharp level bonus in a trade. Then we will hear the standard rhetoric "he did not fit". Of course he did not, he has skill.... |

First of all, hockey is not the military. Where a chain of command is critical to make sure plans and orders are followed so people don't die. There is a huge difference between leading on a hockey team and commanding subordinates in the military. We do see how important of a leader Couturier is. How is he managing that without the letter on his sweater? How are you able to recognize Couturier as a leader without a letter on his sweater? If you can, can the players or are they not able to without the letter? Seems as though its not necessary. Same with Konecny. They're both the clear evidence of my argument. To say that it doesn't hold water doesn't make much sense with that clear evidence. I suspect that he gave the A to Laughton simply due to the rules. That technically, only a player wearing an A or a C can meet with the referees on behalf of the team in disputes on calls.
Where did I say it's a novel and effective way of building a team? I didn't. All I said was that I agree with what I think is his reasoning. That he wants every player to lead by example and take on a piece of the pie. Whether that is more effective then the other way, not sure. I think overall, who wears the C or the A doesn't matter nearly as much as who is actually an effective leader. |

Yesterday we all debated the value of Zegras & Cozens and whether they could be had or should be had. Today… C’s and A’s |

Maybe you just don't follow hockey that close and have never heard of a player named Jack Hughes? He's out injured and didn't play in the game. Here is some info below for you to familiarize and inform yourself.
