What better explanation is there other than the kid did NOT want to come to Philly? I'm puzzled by this statement. CG wanted out and the Flyers sought the best return possible under the circumstances. It doesn't get any more complicated than that.
- Letterkenney
The better explanation is hey I have zero interest playing head games with the coach and that my progression to the best player I can be will be better elsewhere. I think he would get less slack. Philly fans might not like that but oh well. |

Kucherov is the new Jagr. In fact, Jagr should only hope to be Kucherov. Kucherov is the guy I hope Michkov becomes. Plus Kucherov has mocked Montreal, which helps. - roenick97

IMO the Flyers should have done a little less expounding and Cutter should be doing a little more explaining. - Tomahawk
I do not think that is unfair. Iam probably 25/75 less expounding/more explaining.

I live out of town and have very little chance to watch the Flyers live. But based on YouTube highlights, especially from the recent games, I love seeing the Flyers attack as a team - the skating, passes, forechecking, and snipe from time to time. The hustle on D, the solid goaltending. They haven't done that consistently in years, and it's such a breath of fresh air to see them playing that way. It's no wonder they're racking up quality wins. More please. Let's go Flyers. |

Indeed. I’m pretty sure Comcast can afford a whole team of high level PR people who can advise the Flyers front office what to say and how to say it so they are able to keep the fans happy. Not out of anything altruistic towards the fans but as a business keeping its customers happy.
Now, haven’t we all jabbered enough about this? We need some new news to get snap out of this loop. |

The issue is that they manipulated and weaponized the fanbase as a strategy for dealing with the fallout.
Cutter was gonna probably catch flak no matter what but Danny/Jonesy/Hilferty poured gas all over him and lit him up themselves.
Meanwhile the Flyers play the victim so the fans won't focus on why the prospect doesn't want to play for the hapless, dysfunctional franchise that hasn't won anything in almost 50-years despite having every advantage. - Tomahawk
I totally disagree with you on this point. Firstly, the Flyers are the victim here. Unless they are lying to us, they asked repeatedly to meet with the player to understand why he doesn't want to play for the Flyers so they could address it and he refused. Secondly, what advantage have the Flyers had over other NHL teams? Thirdly, taking away the past decade, the Flyers were one of the most successful franchises in the NHL, right up there in win percentage with the Montreal Canadiens. The Flyers since their last Cup win in 75' have gone to the finals 6 other times and though they didn't win the Cup, they lost to dynasties like the Islanders, Oilers, Red Wings and Blackhawks. The Flyers also had several deep playoff runs. They have been very far from a hapless, dysfunctional franchise over their history. And even if they were hapless & dysfunctional under Dave Scott, they have new leadership in place that have already made great strides in righting the ship. Quitter deserves every single ounce of flak he is receiving right now. All he had to do is be up front with the Flyers and this entire thing could have been avoided. |

👍🏻
They are winning with quantity over quality right now offensively. We’ll see how long it lasts but they are dependent on 2nd chance scoring, tenacious shot blocking, and a committed teamwide Checking effort. |

As MJL said the physical tools are all there... but the hockey sense and his ability to utilize his teammates seems suspect at this point. And those things are harder to improve on than the physical stuff.
Edit: His ability to create his own scoring chances is a huge thing tho... that's almost impossible to develop. - Tomahawk
Does Ovechkin utilize his teammates? He scores his goals either from the top of the circle on the PP or from individual efforts. And we all certainly would agree Ovechkin is elite and then some. |

All the Flyers did was give their side of the story. Gauthier isn't taking the high road. He's being a punk and not being man enough to give his reasoning. Which is allowing speculation and rumors to flourish. - MJL

CC for a bag of pucks, and then Torts can bench his fraudulent butt and make him watch the games from the press box. |

I’ve been in the back areas of to many KFC’s in my time doing service calls that I would not eat a thing from a KFC. The floors are more slippery than an ice rink, they are all dirty, the chicken gets left out until some kid gets around to breading it after dipping it in some nasty gray water.

of course. They had plenty of time to discuss how they would present the announcement. People make it sound like there is something evil about this. The way their management structure is set up (triumvirate) it's even more important they all appear to be informed and in agreement. They made a trade. They had to speak about it. Before they speak they need to decide what they are going to say so they don't sound like complete dolts. Not sure why people are bent out of shape about this (not saying you are one of these people)? I think they felt insulted by what Gauthier did and they didn't want to appear weak or lacking in confidence in their response. They are trying regain some of that swagger the organization used to have. I don't have a problem with their response. |

I do wonder if there is a young center either in the NHL or AHL that the Flyers could use Bonk to get. The Flyers would have to add something but Bonk’s stock is artificially high with his power play production. The Flyers have the right side of their defense locked up with Sanheim, Drysdale and even Ristolainen is signed for a few more years. This draft is deep with defensivemen and the Flyers will have at least 4 picks in the top 2 rounds after a Walker trade so they should easily be able to replace Bonks skill set in the system. |

What a seriously bad comparison. Ovechkin has scored over 800 goals and yes, he utilizes and works off his teammates. Most notably, Nik Backstrom. He has scored goals all over the ice. Epic failure here on your part.

I think both Andrae and Attard will be ready for the Flyers by the end of this season and definitely next season. Attard actually could play for the Flyers right now if they had a spot for him. - jd250
Attard's development is coming along splendidly. He might even play in another NHL game before his 25th birthday. |

Yep, with the Flyers very recognizable ability to draft and develop high level defenseman. They've done it so many times over the years. They should easily be able to replace Bonk's skill set. Flyers have an over flowing surplus of young talent.
