I think they try to move him next summer....he will have 1yr left at that point and the Habs get a salary retention slot back in July (they have 3 to start with, used one for Petry that expires in July 2025, Edmundson expires in July 2024)

Yes, at first it was mostly to confirm what they had with Primeau.

Once they were convinced Primeau would be a fine backup, they moved to step two: Try and move Allen.
