former 1st round pick in 2020, 11th overall, 6'4", great stats in the AHL, ready to make the jump they say. Lots of chatter he is a Richard to be around, he's been on the market since last year and no taker so far.

He's also much better at the playing hockey part. That helps.

agreed that acquiring more talent up front would be the priority, but if Askarov turns out to be a stud, a Montembeault/Askarov tandem could be pretty damn good too.

sure, but that doesn't mean there won't be more "ifs" up front either.

I'm not saying the habs should definitely go after Askarov, but if they do their homework and determine that he's gonna become a legit #1 goalie, it could also mean they would be set in net for years to come.

there's absolutely no certainty that Askarov will be better than Monty, or than Primeau for that matter. meanwhile they desperatly need offense. no brainer imo.
