He played one of those games with a broken ankle... blood seen through sock after the game...a game 7 of a playoff series after missing months. He wasnt very good in the Isles series the season before, no doubt, but he also had just came back from a very long layoff two games before that series started. That's always been a knock on Jarry, not only his durability, but his ability to be in his top form when he returns or soon after he returns. It takes him a nice while to get going and back to form after long layoffs. Look at his numbers the past few Octobers compared to November and December the past few seasons... after a long summer layoff. - MattStrat
I believe that was Curt Schilling with the sock...
It was the Islanders series that he blew that worries me. The Pens were outplaying the Isles and Jarry seemed to mentally shrink and blow it.
Either way, we are tied to him now, so hopefully he can pull it together for a run. |

Pretty sure hockey players are professional enough not to think their teammates owe them an explanation on free agency.
My read is Jake wants to stay, but is questioning how competitive the team can be. I wouldn't blame him if he didn't want to be stuck on a team in purgatory when he still has prime years left. - Tojo.
Jakes pay day is going to be higher than if he never played with Sid, his decision also has implications on Sids future. If I was Jake I would absolutely feel a responsibility to Sid. I’m guessing Guentzel and I had much different childhoods and up bringing though. |

I’m up $1k on the year in sports betting. I’ll probably allow myself to lose $300 on sports wagering this weekend before I say no more but I highly doubt that will happen with the way that I play. Realistically I’m probably looking at max $200 in either losses or winnings over the course of the weekend. It all kind of depends on how stupid I get chasing live lines. If I were to predict it I’d probably say that at my peak I’ll be around $400 up and by the end of the weekend I’ll be pretty close to even. - Victoro311
Do you just read the lines or do you “study” any sort of betting things? We just had sports gambling legalize kn the hard rock app here in Florida and a bunch of the guys in my beer league team are going ham on the betting haha |

While this is true, he owes it to Sid to just tell the team what his plans are so they can prepare themselves as best as possible. Sid has definitely helped, and he also watches Jakes back on the ice as ridiculous as that is. Hopefully at some point he just makes it clear to the team that he’s going to free agency or that he wants to stay. Be a man about it instead of a little female dog. - Grinder47
Not sure where this narrative is coming from, but it's completely false. Jake isn't hiding any of his intentions. Dubas is waiting to see that when the deadline comes we are healthy and in a spot to compete. If we aren't he will trade Jake to a contender. If we are Jake stays and they discuss the contract later. Not sure how that hasn't been made clear. |

Only three examples I can really think of where the winger was the linchpin of the line was Kane during his time in Chicago when centered by guys like Shaw on the second line, triplets era Kuch, and HBK Kessel - Victoro311
Ovechkin? He carries the whole team.

While Jarry is having a pretty nice season, he is 2-6 in the playoffs with an .891 sv%. The Pens are at the stage where they need a goalie who can steal a series if they want to make a run. So I have a massive lack of confidence in the Pens ability to do anything in the playoffs, but hoping that Jarry can prove me wrong. - MacPatty
Jarry is having a solid season. I believe we had a preseason blog dedicated to this very topic. The narrative was we needed league average goaltending to be competitive. Please correct me if I'm wrong, most people were on board with this.
Halfway thru this season we've gotten better than average goaltending, top five at times even. What we need is league average shooting.

He's not looking so good this year without Backstrom feeding him passes.. |

It's Grinder so definitely not a narrative. His ideas are usually 100% his. |

You need a system, so you can tell everybody in Vegas about how you have a system. |

Didn’t realize the Pens are playing the knights tomorrow. I’m actually on my way to Vegas right now for a boys weekend. Finding a sick spot for the game shouldn’t be too hard. - Victoro311

That's what I'm saying. Where did he come up with this story that Jake is the one holding out and not being open? |

Another epic collapse in the 3rd. I can’t stand watching Geno do whatever it is he does. But status quo will remain. |

This game is exactly why I cant get behind this team being anything besides an average team. Good teams, teams that make the playoffs with a purpose, close out that game without a problem. Going to sleep for 10 minutes in the third period and losing a 2-0 lead is unacceptable. |

Was going to say the same thing. Every time I get a little excited, they play a game like that. Vegas is missing a bunch of players too.
Alot of the teams they're chasing lost tonight too.

Perfect opportunity to gain some ground but once again they poop the bed in the third and yet another 2 goal lead is gone. Some crap as we've seen for a while now. |

Vegas also beat the Rags and Bruins the past week as well.
So what you're saying is that a lot of the teams they're chasing lost as well, so they didn't lose much ground?.. That's great. |

Ovechkin made Backstrom. Backstrom would've had a hard time beating out Jordan Staal for 3C. |

I think that's a bad take, Thundy. I think they complemented each other very well but Backstrom was a talent of his own. If Staal had Backstroms offense skills, and skating, plus his own defensive prowess he'd be considered one of best players of all time hahah |
