Is the discussion about who to blame for it or is it looking at the value of the player with all the variables included? - MJL
Initially I thought it was just about his on ice play. I wasn't factoring in his contract. I agree the Flyers aren't getting 5 million dollar results but he also isn't hurting the team as originally posted. |

I personally would disagree that he isn't hurting the team. If he was the player he was supposed to be or the player that the Flyers hoped he would be. The Flyers would be better off.

Yep, Dallas bought their A game last night. They were ready to play!
Explain to me how you follow such things. How you know a team like Dallas, who plays in the Western Conference, is aware of the Flyers. Tell me how you do that? This should be good. - MJL Cause I listen to the NHL Network on Sirius/XM and also watch the NHL Network. Lots of ex NHLers that know much more than you do about the game. They had Scott Laughlin on Sirius/XM yesterday afternoon. They asked him the #1 thing he would be following for the second half of the season and he mentioned your Philadelphia Flyers. They aren't sneakin up on anyone anymore. It's January 19th and they are in second place by two points in the Metro! Can't wait until Torts wins the Jack Adams just to make you look silly! Thanks again! |

With all due respect all around... but, if the Stars, who are an excellent road team, didn't take the Flyers seriously, they are not the good team we all give them credit for being. They were road favorites... they had to understand what the Flyers can do... how they can play. You don't want to admit it, but Torts out coached them, and has the Flyers playing exceptional hockey... and above their expectations. I always hated Torts, and hate how he treated Hayes and TDA, etc... BUT... he is doing what HCs are paid to do; WIN hockey games, and develop players. Will it last, or will they burn out? If they can sustain it, he is a Jack Adams winner... if they can't, it's been a fun ride. Let's give him a chance to play it out... Sit back and enjoy it. I know... I know... you are looking for a long ride... for many seasons... but that has to begin with one, two, three seasons.. and so forth. It pains me to say he has won me over... but it doesn't pain me to attend games any longer... and follow them from home when I don't attend, or they are on the road; they are playing well... the fans are back strong at the Farg... the way it used to be every year for decades on end. That's all I have to say about it!! |

There’s a lot that many aren’t wanting to be admit. Morgan Frost needs to more than a second half season player. I’m not huge on Frost but lately he’s been really good and I give him credit. Ristolainen while over paid and never reaching his potential (no idea why this is an argument right now) is playing well. Risto is along for the ride every night. Last, Torts track record as an above average to good coach is affecting this team positively. More than anyone could expect. This is what some people don’t want to admit because these wins aren’t coming the way they want them to. |

Did you notice that Torts repaid your (new found) faith in him and did what you were suggesting he do? Put 2 D on the pp? I think it was the 2nd or 3rd one, I saw Travis and Drysdale start the pp. |

LOL, there is a huge difference between what the media talks about and says, and what is going on with the players and NHL teams. There is no question that Dallas was completely unprepared for the level of competitiveness they faced last night from the Flyers. Lucky for me, I don't have to wait that long for you to look silly. You're welcome.

No matter how good a team is, and how bad a team is, the Flyers had a 27-1 shot advantage. That's a ludicrous stat. If two NHL teams play to their max potential, you are never going to see that. Flyers maybe the better team but there was something else |

It's a well known phenomenon in sports. It's an 82 games season against a non conference, non division opponent. The Flyers played really well and dominated the game. Across the board. They deserve credit for that. However, the Stars simply didn't show up! They're one of the best offensive teams in the league and they registered one shot on net in the first period. Only 15 shots on net for the entire game. How specifically did Tortorella outcoach them? What specific tactics did Tortorella employ for this game? I'd like to know. I bet some coaches in the western conference would like to know when they face Dallas. LOL Tortorella is not going to win the Jack Adams award. Not as long as Vancouver and Winnipeg is in the picture. Knoblauch in Edmonton is also in the picture now with what he has done with Edmonton.
The way it used to be! I know, you're satisfied. All they had to do was win some regular season games and you're hooked to the gills! So sit back and enjoy. I want to enjoy my team skating the Cup around the ice.

Flyers maybe the better team but there was something else - PT21 Sorry, I'm not buying it. The Flyers played the Stars earlier in the season and played them basically to a draw before losing in OT. The Stars were aware of this team beforehand, but the Flyers surprised them with how much their game has improved since that game in big "D".

having a bad start or bad game doesn't mean they took them lightly.
do the flyers get any credit for that shot discrepancy ? Or for the way dallas played? |

This is from EK, so taken with a grain of salt, but he says the Flyers have the most cap space of the top 10 teams currently in the NHL at 23.1 million. Is this true? |
