I'm glad we got that straightened out and you now understand that my statement only referred to the Dallas game and not any other game. The Habs are not a top team in the league and a potential contender for the Cup. Nor are they one of the top offensive teams in the league like the Stars are. You seem to be on this task to want to cheerlead for the team. You are free to do so. I look at the big picture. I look at it from the perspective of, is this putting the team on the path of becoming a team that can legitimately compete for the cup over a significant period of time. My answer to that is no. I think it's far more likely that what is happening now, is far more likely to hurt their chances to get to that position. We've had this conversation before. I'm not looking for participation trophies, or Jack Adams trophies. I'm looking for one trophy and one trophy only.

You know, if you actually listened to what Jones, Briere and Torts say in their interviews, you would know that what you want here is 100% aligned to what they want. There will be no about faces, no change of hearts, no turning into buyers. The Flyers will make moves this trade deadline to open up more spots and obtain future assets, and will do more at the draft and the off season. Give this leadership a chance to build this up the right way before you bash them.

Torts will pass Bowness shortly and Tocchet soon after that. Again I will say it to you plainly: If the Flyers make the playoffs, Torts wins his 3rd Jack Adams hands down.
- jd250

Is this just something on your wish list? If both Winnipeg and/or Vancouver stay in the top of the league standings. Even if the Flyers make the playoffs. Tortorella will not win the Jack Adams. He will get consideration but he will not win it.

who the f cares really. It means jack schitt at the end of the day. Though it would look good fir when he ask for an ext.

Tocchet will win if he wins his division or makes the playoff.

I have no doubt that they want to win the Cup. I have doubts that they know how to build a team that has a legitimate chance to accomplish that. There are no chances given. There is only action and accomplishment in my view. In the words of Yoda, there is no try. Do or don't do.

no one gives a crap what they say. Actions actions and more actions is what will be judged.

I do not believe that for one second. Wouldn't be right to the "boys" in room who have worked hard. The owe them to compete now.

So put it out there right now, who do you see them trading. I say walker will be the only one of significance.

Sure I can. We have the poll that was recently taken. That shows you how the voters are thinking. No reason to not think that will continue. That is my opinion.

Long way to go and lots of love out there for Torts. Torts is more popular than the other two. All things being equal and he will win it!

So you think it's a popularity contest? Sort of like the "swifties" voting for Taylor Swift?

If Vancouver and Winnipeg stay at the top of the standings. All things won't be equal.

No, don't think it's a popularity contest solely. Torts was a member of the media before being hired and he is generally in good stead with media people with the exception of the ones to which he bites their heads off. Right now Tocchet has to be considered the favorite, but we shall see. Swifties...Ugh!!

I had to rewatch that first goal from frost to walker and that pass was an absolute beauty of a pass! The more that Frost keeps playijg the better he is getting.
Even the frost haters have to admit that frost has elevated his game recently. Now we just need to see consistency from him.
Oh, and his team mates need to bury more of frost's beautiful set ups.

What’s been really impressive is his defensive awareness and stick lately

Um, no. There isn't a single team in the league who has close to that. No idea where Eklund is getting that from. Currently, the Flyers are looking at being able to take on 2.9M in cap hits at the deadline but they can increase that significantly by placing Ryan Ellis on LTIR, once they make some moves. They could also obviously increase cap space by moving some of their players for picks and prospects not on the NHL roster.

A quick look sees the Flyers have about that cap space for next season, and Florida has about the same and Ek was saying those 2 have the most cap space. But both have lots of spots to fill.

But who knows, it's Ek

I wasn't looking at next season. I was focused on this year. I didn't read the EK comment so I don't know what he was referring to.

As of right now, the Blackhawks have 43M in cap space for 24/25. Anaheim 35M.

Let's not leave out Montgomery. Team loses Bergeron and Krecji and is the best in the East. Not sure who the last back to back winner is.

While I am starting to believe this team is a playoff caliber team, the remaining schedule features mostly Eastern Conference teams. I expect them to be up to the challenge but there is plenty of season left. Important games. Regulation wins.

That said, what a treat to wake up and see the Flyers in 2nd place only 2 points behind the Rags. Let's go boys!

Saturday will be another strong test. Hopefully another impressive win.

Let's keep this rolling.

More than the standings or the points it is the way they consistently outplay teams. Imagine what they could be with any kind of semblance of a pp

In today’s Athletic power rankings the Flyers have moved to #10. The mvp? Torts…lol. They talk about this teams commitment and buy in and how it’s a testament to his coaching. Good stuff.

I believe Eks blog was about cap space for the top 10 teams in the league...he stated the Flyers had the most at over $23 million and Florida had over $19 million I believe. The only way I can see that is if it is next years cap space, and he was talking about taking on a contract that wasn't expiring.

Midway through the second. Canes 12 shots. Wings 3. Like, what’s happening to some of these teams where they’re getting dominated so much, they can’t get shots on net?

I went and read the blog. Ek makes this statement showing he is clearly talking about this season.

"If the Flyers are buyers for a rental they have alot of money to make that happen...."

I have no clue where he is getting his cap figures from but it's not from reality.

I didn't read it, but saw the numbers and figured he was talking next year. He is always way off base any time I have wasted my time reading his blogs, so now I don't.

They need to get what they can at the deadline for Walker if the D core stays healthy

Funny, they played a great game last night and as everyone on here was excited about Tippett's goals, beating the Stars, etc, there was nothing from you. I just did a quick scroll through today's posts and the only positive thing you said about last night was about one of Frosty's assists (which I agree was great). I see you are still bashing Risto and Torts. I'm sure you are probably looking forward to the next loss so you can get on your soapbox. Try to enjoy the run we are on and the promise we have for the future. Have a great weekend!

Yes, I still can't believe how well they are playing. When they had that rough stretch a few weeks ago, I thought, here we go...this is the real Flyers. But no, they bounced back and have most impressive lately. It's nice to look forward to watching games again!

I'm all for that. I've been impressed with Walker, but with Drysdale, Walker is the most likely to go. I'm sure it's been said, Risto will be hard to move and Seeler has been a warrior for us. With the prospects of the playoffs, I'd think they'd want to keep Seeler as he's been here longer than Walker and I'd think they value his contributions to the team the past few years.
