Was hoping the Florida road trip was earlier as these 2 games always show the state of the team on how they fare. This year the trip is right at the trade deadline. |

Funny, they played a great game last night and as everyone on here was excited about Tippett's goals, beating the Stars, etc, there was nothing from you. I just did a quick scroll through today's posts and the only positive thing you said about last night was about one of Frosty's assists (which I agree was great). I see you are still bashing Risto and Torts. I'm sure you are probably looking forward to the next loss so you can get on your soapbox. Try to enjoy the run we are on and the promise we have for the future. Have a great weekend! - Don Nachbaur He wants to wait 10 more years for them to have a chance to win the Cup.

In today’s Athletic power rankings the Flyers have moved to #10. The mvp? Torts…lol. They talk about this teams commitment and buy in and how it’s a testament to his coaching. Good stuff. - landros 2 Shhh...we don't want to ruin a good agenda on here. Don't you know that Torts is the devil?

Congrats to Tips!! I heard that his goal last night was #1 on ESPNs top 10 plays of the day! That is quite the accomplishment considering that ESPN tends to ignore hockey. Kudos! |

Nah - you’re miserable when the team wins in ways you don’t approve of. You’ll be wrong again as usual… just like you were wrong about Phil Myers and Tippett and frost and Torts and the list goes on. |

Lol yes indeed! Although I think he'd be more happy if we never win the Cup.

Yep! Torts is an evil, archaic manipulator who controls everything the Flyers do. If DB and kJ oppose him, he will use the force and make them choke

As usual, you hate the Flyers since your boy Hexy is out. You really should move on to a different team at this point.

Getting off from Ristolainen would be nice. I gotta think their is salary retention.
I get the eagerness to buy but I want them to stay the course and just sell off a defensemen or two. - Pelle31Forever
I found the source of this idea of trading Laughton and Risto for Norris= OTT Hockeybuzz writer.
“Key Targets: Laughton (3yrs x $3.0M), Ristolainen (4yrs x $5.5M)
Potential Return: Norris (7yrs x $7.9M)
Rationale: The Flyers are seriously lacking at C after Couturier, and Norris could help them improve upon their bottom-10 faceoff %. Laughton is the kind of two-way veteran forward the Senators would covet for their middle-6 forwards, and Ristolainen would add size and stability at RHD.“
So I looked into Norris more as I was only somewhat familiar with the player. He got his larger contract after a 35 goal year and looked like a #1C. He then has been injured for two seasons. Missed almost all of last year and has missed much of this year. The injuries seem unrelated. He is currently out with an upper body (clutched head after running into Calgary's Lindholm). So, to me, the proposed deal comes down to this:
A young guy that has already gotten his big contract that could be a #1C but has injury concerns. Aka, a giant gamble. For a very overpriced #6 D that the team seems to like and a veteran good soldier guy that is beloved by everyone on a fair contract.
When I look at it like this, it isn’t as bad as I thought for both teams. If the Flyers have scouted the player and like what they have seen, and OTT is looking for more stability, I guess I would do it as unfortunately if this team ever wants to win a cup, they need to roll the dice. 🎲 |

With the injuries the kid has I want nothing to do with his contract. Yikes.

The Flyers have enough dead cap space. Can't afford to take the risk here with a player that appears to have repeated injury issues. He missed a lot of time with that shoulder. Have to ask why would Ottawa trade a still young top 6 center capable of scoring 30+ goals for an overpaid 3rd pair defenseman and a role player? Flyers rolled the dice with Ellis, Ristolainen and Atkinson. Came up snake eyes. Yea, let's do it again. |

Is this just something on your wish list? If both Winnipeg and/or Vancouver stay in the top of the league standings. Even if the Flyers make the playoffs. Tortorella will not win the Jack Adams. He will get consideration but he will not win it. - MJL
Look at the history of the award, bias goes to the coach that made the playoffs with the fewest expectations coming into the season. Tocchet has done a great job in Vancouver, however they have two top 10 forwards and a Norris trophy candidate. The Flyers top scorer is TK who, the last I checked, is 44th in the league in scoring, and the Flyers before the season were picked by most to be a bottom 5 team. Torts will win this going away because of these facts, not my wishes. |

I have no doubt that they want to win the Cup. I have doubts that they know how to build a team that has a legitimate chance to accomplish that. There are no chances given. There is only action and accomplishment in my view. In the words of Yoda, there is no try. Do or don't do. - MJL
And if they fail to follow through I will be right there with you bashing them. But for now, even Torts is saying the right things, that the Flyers can’t fall in love with players or try to sign that one big free agent, that this has to built the right way. One thing I’ll give this leadership team credit for, they all make sure to have a consistent message. The one thing I don’t want to hear from them is these words from Vader “ I am not altering the deal, pray I don’t alter it further” |

Yes, go ahead and do yourself a favor and actually look at the history. Look at who won. You haven't actually done that obviously. You never have the facts. Only what you think are the facts in your head. You aren't looking at it objectively and with the facts. You're looking at it with homerism. It is not at all based on expectations. It's based on results and expectation has nothing to do with it. Right now, Tocchet and Bowness are the clear favorites.
Do yourself a favor and look at the recent poll on NHL.com and see who is the current favorite to win the Jack Adams award at the mid point of the season. It's not Tortorella. If he is going to win this going away, why isn't he the favorite? This is more of the same and your normal rhetoric. You claimed last year that Tortorella was the hands down winner. |
