Other than having good shots, don’t see many similarities. Kessels speed almost snuck up on guys, he was great shooting while skating off the rush too. Tippett is like a bull in a China shop, and he’s much more physical.

Tippet is straight ahead and drive to the net and rip it. I love that about him. Kessel could score off the rush but he could also dangle, draw defenders to him and set up teammates and make plays. Tippett doesn't have that ability.

You're right about the physical part. Kessel was finesse. Tippett is charge the line.

It kind of makes you think that Tippet might actually develop into an elite forward doesn't it?
- jd250
I'm starting to believe so. That Giroux trade is looking better by the day.

Yeah, your buddy SSB tried to say that Tippett is like Kessel in his prime. I don't see that at all. In fact, they are nothing alike.

That assist on the first goal was not that great of a highlight.

Tip is playing with a ton of confidence right now. If he keeps it going, he's got a good bit more upside in his growth. Time will tell.

He's a 30 goal scorer and a pretty good player. He has a long way to go to get to elite and I personally don't see him reaching that level. That's okay though. He'll score 5 games in a row and everyone will be saying how great he is. Then he won't score for 5 games and everyone will say how frustrating he is, missing the net, etc.

He certainly seems to have some Mackinnon in him, but he will not reach that level. He certainly seems to resemble his game at times.

If the Flyers keep playing at this level. They're not going to trade anyone.

I don’t know. They seem to be making a point lately of warning fans that they’re still building a team and that their focus is on the future. Regardless, this is fun to watch and it’ll be interesting to see what they do.

No, I would not say he has some McKinnon in him.

"3rd liner" Joel Farabee is scoring at an even 3 ESP/60 now. That's good for 13th in the entire NHL among skaters with at least 500 minutes played.

Then we will disagree as we usually do. Back to your regularly scheduled programming. Thanks!

If you can show me that Tippett has any semblance of the quality of playmaking that McKinnon has, who is probably the best playmaker in the entire NHL, then maybe I'll change my mind.

The guy he reminds me of is Chris Kreider. Big, strong, fantastic skater who can play physical if need be. Krieder has shown to be a solid goal scorer as he has progressed in his career. The deal to bring in Tippet is looking like a decent return by Fletch….

One poster earlier this season wondered if Farabee was going to be a full time NHL player. Of course the same guy recently claimed that Carter Hart is as good as Hellebuyck, if not better.

Strong win vs a good team. I keep waiting for the wheels to come off but they keep surprising me. Keep it up boys. When we have the young players as the ones leading the charge, winning isn’t a bad thing.
