Given his current role, I agree. I think people, myself included, have a problem with the trade and the subsequent extension Fletcher gave him.

I like Risto but it was absolutely a bad trade. I’ll never argue it.

It was rumored earlier this season that Walker might fetch us a first round pick. If I’m being honest, I don’t think Walker is worth a first but I’ll accept one if offered.

Given his current role, which is a 3rd pair 15-17 minute defenseman that has a 5.1M cap hit, how is that not hurting anything? Flyers are getting their money's worth out him?

Check the standings.

The Flyers might be getting their money’s worth if Risto was seeing PP time but Risto isn’t on it. It’s not the fault of the player for accepting the money he was offered to be here. Just ask Andrew MacDonald.

I think it's done this year. I forgot about him. Thanks.

TA has $1.6mil against the cap next year as well. Hayes two more years. Also, you assume Peterson will be remain in the minors for next season. So $10mil in dead space next year.

Nice weather in Philly today. Nice to see some heavy snow after years. Bracing weather for long walks. Slows the slide to becoming Baltimore.

I have an idea. Let’s build an entirely separate roster where each player plays for another team and the Flyers pay them.

I bought a loaf of rye which turned into a rock during my walk.
On the plus side, I put some corned beef, coleslaw, Brooklyn mustard and hot sauce on it post defrosting.

And there was some apricot brandy someone had given us. 🌝

Who’s the next head coach here? Jonsey’s best bud Berube? Brad Shaw?

My fear is that it's gonna be Berube.

Current games are certainly not meaningless. Look at what Edmonton's 12 game winning streak has done for them after a really poor start. I agree that teams will ramp up and maybe at some point, teams will stop taking the Flyers so lightly. As far as the Tortorella point. Agree completely.
- MJL
This is a ridiculous take! Teams are no longer taking the Flyers lightly. It is well known around the league what they are doing. Yes, I follow such things rather than looking up a bunch of stats. That's just another way of you throwing shade at Torts. He has these guys playing a cohesive/fast game! Dallas may have been surprised at what they faced last night, but it was NOT because they took the Flyers lightly. Just stop....please! Thanks!

Nope, one more year to go after this.
- MJL

Thanks for the correction. Well him and Hayes on the books next year I would hope this team isn't thinking about salary retention at the deadline this season.

In that regard, sure. But that's not Ristolainen's fault. That's Fletcher's.

He's what 29 years old now? Been in the league for a decade? He is not going to finally develop into the defenseman he was expected to be. He is now a 3rd pair defenseman that has to play in a very tight conservative defensive team structure just to be serviceable. There are always some sucker GM's but I don't see anyone taking on that contract in full and it's likely the Flyers would have to retain salary just to move him.
- MJL

maybe, maybe not. but took seeler until 29 to round out his game.

Yep, Dallas bought their A game last night. They were ready to play!

Explain to me how you follow such things. How you know a team like Dallas, who plays in the Western Conference, is aware of the Flyers. Tell me how you do that? This should be good.

Is the discussion about who to blame for it or is it looking at the value of the player with all the variables included?

To be fair, a lot of those canned answers are a way to avoid controversy, keep anybody from getting called out and to get the interviews over with.

The talk on the bench, in the room, before faceoffs and at practice will be much more pointed and technical. That stuff is mostly kept "in the room" tho.

Of course there are some dummies who are actually walking talking cliches. Like Hartsy haha.

- Tomahawk

When players come off the ice, the last thing they want to do is interviews. They want to get out of their equipment and get on the bike. So when they are interviewed, they are typically very short with their answers and also very cliche or generic. In no way should on-ice interviews be used to indicate how analytical a player is. These players are professionals, they know the game inside out and backwards.

Dallas did not play well last night, that is a fact. But it has absolutely nothing to do with Dallas taking the Flyers lightly. The rest of the league knows how good the Flyers are. Just listen to the other coaches when its game day against the Flyers if you want proof.
