I like Joshua, but there seems to be a Joshua type story every season. Those player surprises occur from good coaching, good line mates, and the fact the other team’s best defenders are against our top line.

It would be stupid to use $3m against the cap on Joshua.

Contracts have gone up the same as inflation.

There is also absolutely no method to it either. Just don't look at Chicago contracts at all because they are all overpaid or in Florida where everything is too much or too little.

I good career 4th line type player is getting 2M now a days with a bit of term.
Players that have shown to be capable bottom 6 players are getting 3M plus.
Mid 6's 4.5M

And all of it depends on term and age and clauses.

It also might benefit him to stay and score 20 two years in a row and make 4 mil on his contract after this extension.

We are not far off. I say 1.6. He has been a career AHL player until this year but I do think you need to give him two years or he walks. His best bet is to sat here and prosper but then again the Leafs might jump in and offer him five mil times four.
