Ottawa is having a set back year after years of rebuild

this is year 2 of mtl rebuild

how would you feel being a Sens fan
?

you should know more than most in here how long a full rebuild can take

They suck out of the balls of the Lord

well for instance you do consider that all those OT points are attributable to luck.
- Pat1993

Depending on OT / OTL points to show team improvement is a weak argument. Sure, they fought back in a few games to get the extra point. Good on them. But they also blew a lot of leads that gave away points (some of those went to OT).

They have been in what? 12-13+ OT games this season (last time I checked). Sure, you can say, well at least they hung in there to keep it close. Things like bad turnovers, stupid amount of penalties taken, bad PP, bad PK, giving up a lot of 6-5 goals at the end of a game, when the opposition has removed their goalie (I think they gave up 2 goals in the same game twice, maybe?), etc... are things that can/should be fixed. You end up with a lot less OT.

When you get to OT, it is all about who makes the mistakes. So yes, there is a certain amount of luck, yes. But every team in the same situation can make the same claim.

I did not say they were significantly better or that much better, but they have been better

You are obsess about all of the OTS and you call it luck when they win.

You could say as well that they stay in more games this season than last, and they have have clutch as well well to win some of those games. No sequences of 8-9 losts either this season.

I gave up watching them last season around december or january.

The games are better this year, most of the time they can actually win them and they often do, even vs top teams like Colorado. Not an automatic L this season.

So thats progress, yes. Never said they were perfect, but perfect does not exist, even not you my internet friend.

I expect the rebuild to be a 5-6- 7 years thing. Look at the Devils and how long it took them to be that much better. About the time frame I gave you if not more.

- deadpoulet

Again, I see improvement on an individual players level, just not the team as a whole.

And that has a lot more to do with management needing more time, than the players themselves, at they try to turn over the roster / contracts / develop players / draft.

I'd be more worried with those OT points if they were expected to compete and make the playoffs, for a team on the rebuild I find it's more a positive than anything else.

yeah sometimes context is important

one or two beers at 7 am vs one or 2 beers at 8 :00 pm its not the same, but yeah its still 2 god damn beers

Agreed.

Points really do not matter right now, in a way, but they do not fundamentally show improvement.

There have been some terrible games this year, but they have also had some games that were vastly better than anything they could have done last year.

I'm still mostly watching games, which I was not at this point last year, so there is that.

Unless those 2 beers at 7AM are you still going strong non-stop from the night before.

(We've all been there a few times... and not always when camping, either.)

I think the otherside of it Mash, might be let them have the OT points, and then give them a few more points on games they should have won against weaker teams.

How many points would they have now?

I mean it's all, ifs, buts, candies and nuts..
