hockey bets are pretty rare for me in the regular season.

i think i may have bet a dollar on the first game i went to this year.

with all the expensive beer and food you guys had at the game I hope you won that bet.

Can't believe I went b2b2b2b2b at work this week. Should be abolished. Period.

yes, because teaching and sports entertainment are exactly the same thing and should be compared as such.

True. We contribute a net positive for mid 5 figures and people don't complain we work too much.

We, oddly, have shorter summer vacations

You also have to understand that this is because someone said something really dumb after yesterday's game

yes, I'm very much aware lolll

asking for back-to-back games to be abolished is obviously unreasonable but it would be an ideal situation for NHL teams if they never had any.

it wouldn't necessarily guarantee an entertaining game every time but it would ensure that players are well-rested, thus at least improving the odds of having a better product on the ice.

I just have a tough time being sympathetic to the plight of pro athletes who make millions and retire in their 30s.

Yes, the odds would be better, but I'm sure fine tuned athletes can handle b2b especially when you are only traveling from mtl to ott

I get what you're saying 100% and they can "handle" it for sure, but in the end, even though they're pro athletes making millions it's still better for everyone if they get a day of rest between games, both for the players and for the fans in attendance. imho.

Tho some say, no break is better because you don't want to have the last game hanging over you (especially after a loss) or you want to ride the wave of momentum

bah, I'm sure if you asked players to vote on it, the vast majority of them would rather have a break day lol.

I think they would mostly have an issue with longer breaks for the kind of situation you're referring to, when they aren't playing for 3 or 4 days after a stinker.

However, you're right with what you said this morning. Teams should roughly play the same amount

same amount of back-to-backs?

yeah I find that really sucks, until recently I wasn't even aware that some teams played way more of those games than others during a season, which automatically creates a disadvantage.

This is dumb. I know you can say "but travel" however it should be figured out better.

Though I remember dynasty mode in like nhl11 where after 5 seasons it wouldn't be surprising to see your team playing 3, 4, or even 5 games in a row

wtf? and do those video games take that into consideration, or it doesn't have any impact on how the players perform?

Goalies, yes. Even if you had 5 games in 14 days, of you started you no.1 for all of them you'd get a message that he's fatigued and would auto start your back up and call up an ahl goalie

well that sounds a bit random, especially since that as early as NHL 95 it would tell you which player is on a "hot" or "cold" streak loll

I remember . All of a sudden they tried to add realism with fatigue. For example, if you played as Nashville, you'd play Rinne a lot because the back up sucked (say 60ish games) while Weber and Sutter played in all situations. But they'd all be injured for the playoffs with fatigue injuries.

I think it's a hack that actually adds blood to the game, kinda like with Mortal Kombat on the SNES
