Mayfield is approaching Bruno Gervais territory for 'Islanders defenseman I wish would get struck by a meteor' |

Stupid penalty first of all and you don’t even try to feed Nelson a shot when you have the puck comfortably on the PP? |

Barzal gonna blame that on lambert too? He should have been plenty rested after sitting in the box for 2 minutes. |

Tough loss that highlighted some season long issues:
Mayfield: The guy is nothing more than a liability. Awful positioning, terrible clear attempts and dumb penalties. The team should all beat him like 'Pyle' in 'Full Metal Jacket'
Barzal: Not good tonight. Skated himself into trouble. A dumb offensive zone pp penalty killed our last real hope.
Sorokin: Repeating what I said earlier; gets away with poor positioning and rebound control due to his elite athletic ability. He's paid for both a lot more this year. Goal 2 was awful.
Aho: Can someone send this kid to Bridgeport where he belongs?
Otherwise, this was a decent effort undone by their continually struggles with defending anything from the faceoff dots in. They can't cover the slot or clear thw crease. The dmen continually throw weak clear attempts and blind passes to the opponents.
When they shoot and there's a rebound, no one challenges their garbage men. When we do the same, we can't bang home a rebound to save our lives.
Roy has a lot of work to do.

I liked the speed they played with tonight and honestly if they play this way they will win more than not.
Roy still needs to tighten up the D a bit but I think they have made strides in the right direction in a very short period of time.
sOrOkin could use a rest and I think Varly is coming back at the right time. He has played for Roy in the past and if he plays well can grab the reins. Might not be a bad thing. Give sOrOkin a well deserved breather and have him fresh for the POs. Yes I said playoffs. Fire away! |

Jokes aside, I thought they played a mostly-strong game last night. The turnovers were egregious and terrible, but there was a lot to like too. If they can eliminate those and continue to play like that I think they'll win more games than they lose. |

Islanders did look good minus the turnovers and ability to finish. Aho should not be a regular NHL dman. |

The Isles' Defense has become very thin. Their first pairing (Dobson and Romanov) is solid. But after that, it's a crapshoot. Even Pelech hasn't been the same player he was before his latest injury. Reilly adds a bit of offense, but hasn't been good defensively. Like you said, Aho would be best in the AHL. Mayfield is just saving himself for the playoffs. Is there help in Bridgeport? Hutton? Salo?

Most noticeable change to me was the breakout. The headman passes from the D were crispy. |

Defense is a challenge even with better coaching. I’ll take Hutton over Aho. I’m not sure if Salo is worth another look? I like Bolduc over Aho as well. |
