Hope he does not get frustrated and takes off. I'm not sure what else he needs to show in Bridge? - ses111
He's an RFA (arb eligible) after this year, so he can't really go anywhere. But I think it's less about what he's showing in Bridgeport and more that the Islanders are a veteran-heavy team and there's just not a spot. Wahlstrom may be playing his way towards opening a spot though and I would hope they give Iskhakov a look before they go spending assets to acquire someone. |

I'm not sure if Ruslan going home is an option? The problem is the vets know their spots are safe. Makes it tough on coaches. Wally will lose his spot if Ruslan gets the call. At this point, I would not have an issue with it.

He hasn't played in Russia since the 2017-18 season. Two years in the NCAA, one in Finland, one in Germany, and two in the AHL. I don't think he's a big flight risk. |

It's interesting that we all busted on Anders, saying he was done and just couldn't keep up. Then suddenly he broke out and scored a few goals. I even saw him force a foot race for a dump in where he absolutely shocked me with his speed. Now he's disappeared again - keaner17
He used up his energy allotment for the season with that dump in foot race. |

I mean it would be fun to give him a look, but I'm not banking on that happening anytime soon. They're going to have to do it at some point and it would make sense while he's still waivers exempt. - eichiefs9
If and when they realize this season is all but a wash he’ll prob get a look. Unless there’s another rash of injuries before that happens which will make it happen sooner… |

This team is lacking in vim and vigor. We saw the same type of Calgary effort with Barry more than a few times. Coach can only do so much. |

In regard to Engvall hitting the top line:
I'm not expecting great success with this move. The guy played 19 games with Brock Nelson and amassed one point. Furthermore, i just don't think he's the right type player to help Barzal and Bo. Sure he's fast, but he is completely incapable of physical battles around and behind the net. I just don't see that working well over the long term. Maybe it adds an initial spark, but I'm willing to bet this experiment ends after 6-7 games.... - keaner17
He's not highly skilled and will probably not be ready for the way they move the puck. Seems like Roy knows Lee isn't the answer but they don't have the proper fit for those two. Probably an off season acquisition if they can |

Apparently he's good in tight but his two way and defensive game are non existent. Not sure which guy that covers us said it but they didn't expect to see him at all. Hard to have a guy up that's great in a shootout but is a liability everywhere else on the ice |

I figured as much. Might fit a little better under Roy's system than he would've with Barry or Lane, but being that tiny and skilled it would be pretty rare for him to also be committed defensively. |

I feel like next year at the earliest as far as seeing him. Really like to see them get some help up front if they do make a move buy they don't have the space to my knowledge |

Islanders can use the offense as well, but if he is a train wreck on D, that will not work either.

Totally agree on the point with Roy. I also don't think Trotz would have allowed it either. My point was more that Snow was okay with laid back personalities who weren't high intensity guys. Nelson is NOT an emotional guy. He's certainly not high intensity. I think sometimes that may translate into on ice approach. More cerebral than energy.
As for the 35-40 goal point. I think we've seen more than our share of goal scorers who don't always put in their best effort away from the puck. Very few are 100% go-go all the time. That said, I have seen that pattern with Brock his whole career. Fortunately he's so good at everything else, it's more acceptable - keaner17
Every player has his plus and minuses but if they are scoring like Brock has then as you said you accept it because it’s working.
As far as Engvall on the first line I think it’s worth a try. I think the line won’t be physical however it will be very quick and with Barzal and Horvat who are highly skilled the speed and quick puck movement my work.
Also I think Roy is looking to get the Nelson line going and Lee in the past has played well with Nelly.
This tweak may just get both the 1st and 2nd line going. I hope Roy’s idea works. Will it who knows but you have to try. Could also throw Holmstrom on the 1st line as well. |

Sluggish, slow start 😡 - nyisles7
Not only are they slow but they are getting it taken to them on a team on a back to back and in a slump. The isles are other teams slumpbusters |

Patrick is going to lose patience real quick with this team. |
