I think it's time we call up Xhekaj for some CHaracter.

By the way Laval is 12-2-1 since he joined them.

They were 5-11-3 before.

Probably a coïncidence, who knows

They had their share of injuries before xmas, lots of young guys who needed time to adjust to the pro life. Mailloux is playing MUCH better since being paired with him also.

I say send Joshua Roy back to Laval, even Struble if you can, stack the team, let them play meaningful games and make a good run at the playoffs. Something they won't get in MTL.

While we are at it, trade Monahan before he gets injured.

That’s another philosophy, i’m not opposed.

Struble is struggling a little when he’s asked to play bigger minutes.

Only stable guy in the back right now is Kovacevic

cause its an NHL guy with an AHL team

He would not have that impact in Montreal

I would not mind him, but he wont solve the 6 or 8 goals a game they have been giving up lately

They needed to add a vet on defense but they decided to go with a bunch of kids on the back end with not much support after matheson and savard

because of that I said it would be hard some nights this season and I was right. It was an easy take, but I was alone in that camp

You take a 2nd round pick (a late one) and move on? Or you try to wait a few weeks and try to get a first round pick?

also they will have to figure something out with their depth centre line before the start of next season with Dach being that injury prone and Newhook who might be better on the wing

Still not 100% convinced they trade Monahan, unless he really wants out to a contender.

Trade money, get a prospect, preferably a winger, sign Lindholm this summer

agree but I have no idea about his options or his ways of thinking

Teams might be worried about him going down once again with an injury so a first round pick could be a reach

maybe a conditional first round pick?

If he wont sign back here, there is no point keeping him here either

yeah, people keep hoping HuGo will sign a big UFA like they did with Panarin in NY.
I'm not too sure about that one. MTL is not NY. I think it ill take more time than NYR.
yes, trade Monahan, no brainer.
Suzuki, Dach, Dvorak and Evans should be their center line for next season.

oh Im sure they wont, for the reason you mention. I dont mind, they are not there yet

but I could see them going after a young forward, maybe another C if they can pull it off (think Dach and Newhook)

but getting another first round pick to pull that off would be key cause I dont think Harris or Wifi would give the fans the return they would like to get

I am just afraid Money will get injured again before they can move him. Ideally, they wait for the TDL...maximize his value, in Money's case, move him ASAP, he's playing well, he's healthy....and he is UFA this summer, move him before it is too late, we all know the Habs and their injury luck

I think once they figure out how their cap will look going forward, and then if the right type of player is available, I can see that happening.

But I do not think they want to end up in a Toronto situation like thye did with Tavares, then had to pay the other guys big time as well. The only benefit they have right now is Suzuki and CC are nailed down for a while, so they have a certain amount of cap flex as a result.

So timing + cap flex... I do nto see a big signing for at least 2+ years.

I dont trust Dach at this point either

If they are smart they will try Newhook once again at C as soon as he comes back, with or without Monahan still on the team

they need a B plan this summer, but it wont be a UFA, they need to make a trade

I like Dach when healthy but he never is, so...

The problem with trading him now is that you have decided to lose a lot of games, and other players are playing in situations they are not suited for.

Your number 2 center becomes Jake Evans.

Dach has so much potential, I think he is the #1 C on this team when healthy....

He needed a big year and shows what he can do as a C, a harder position to play than on the wing

Suzuki is the better player (in my opinion anyway) of the two and the smarter one (vision, hockey IQ but he also have some very good hands and is a god damn wizard during the shootout). Dach is bigger but who is in the line up once again this season, with the C and not a lot of support around him, again?

Suzuki deserves better from the fans

oh for sure but what's more important, maximizing assets return or playing another month just below .500 hockey, pray some of those assets stay healthy until early March to move them?

Newhook is coming back in a few weeks, Pearson this week (another guy potentially on the move).

Habs have ONE "salary retain" slot for this TDL. They get another one this summer in July. So Hughes can only retain salary on ONE player this TDL....Monahan, Anderson, Gallagher, Savard, Allen.....

pick one where you get the best value by retaining salary
