oh for sure but what's more important, maximizing assets return or playing another month just below .500 hockey, pray some of those assets stay healthy until early March to move them?
Newhook is coming back in a few weeks, Pearson this week (another guy potentially on the move).
Habs have ONE "salary retain" slot for this TDL. They get another one this summer in July. So Hughes can only retain salary on ONE player....Monahan, Anderson, Gallagher, Savard, Allen.....
pick one where you get the best value by retaining salary - Symba007
Monahan is on a cheap deal, I dont think they need to retain anything to move him
They need Savard on this team still, you move him at TDL 2025 if you want to do so
Gallagher is not going anywhere
if they can move Anderson, it would be during the off season, and with that contract going on forever, good luck, retain or not
They should use it for Allen 100% and go with a Montembault-Primeau tandem for the rest of the season
I actually like these kids. Reinbacher will be a top 4. Hopefully Mailloux is a top 6. I think Hutson is too young and on the small side to predict. - WaterBoy
I dont think we should count out Barron at all, still think he is a top 4 D long term, just maybe not top 2. They have have less options on that right side either ways. They just need time and experience. That take a few years for DS, more than forwards

I'd love to be wrong with Barron and Harris.
Time will tell. - WaterBoy
I wish Baron was more, but he seems like the kind of guy we would have put all out money on like 5 years ago, but with so many prospects on defence, I think we can be safe to say he os borderline at this point.
He may be an NHL player, but I do not think he is a top 4 on the Habs and not defensively reliable to be a 5-6 guy.
That is why I like a guy such as Harris (or even Kovy).

He is apparently 5-10 now... - Mashadar

He will come to MTL for a few games in late March/early April, I fully expect him to be in Laval next year (like Farrell this season) to get used to the pro game and beef up a bit.

Barron has skills offensively but he seems very fragile confidence wise, he causes dumb turn overs often, that's the part of his game that has not improved a lot.

teams need 8 dmen these days, with injuries and all. Habs will have the luxury to keep many in Laval for the next few seasons, but choices will need to be made. Harris to me is a 3 rd pairing dman, Josh Georges 2.0.

He is a RHD, most of the guys coming up are on the left side

I have no doubt he will generate offense, the main question is how is he going to be when the Habs don't have the puck....which is VERY often. - Symba007
