Facts. Anyone here breaks their jaw and I can promise you they're not playing hockey that same month, let alone same day. Both Stepan and Goodrow are nails
- NYR11

Say what you will about Avery, but the guy finished the game with a lacerated spleen.

Stepan broke his jaw, came back that game and finished. The next day, had surgery. Missed the next game. Cam back and scored 2 goals. That is twice the amount of goals Goodrow has in his NYR playoff career thus far.

Like what are we doing?

Also insane. Because you could die from that. Same with Bergeron and the hole in his lung.

No one is comparing Stepan as a player to Goodrow as a player though……….. Stepan was as soft as they come on the ice, that’s a fact.

Were so bored and miserable, keyboard warriors are now measuring up their toughness against retired professional hockey players.

I heard Tie Domi comes to The Canuck on 9th Ave once in a while, anyone feeling frisky?

Majority has ruled on this. The tinfoil hay has to be so tight.

I don't know. Scoring 2 goals in the playoffs with a broken jaw and no bubble: bad. Scoring no goals in the regular season, with a bubble: good.

This is what the internet was created for.

I would say I hate you, but I hate myself more.

Also, I do not like this simply based on vibes. Because I've never seen an NHL coach do this, and I think it's good for the Islanders. Which is bad for me.

You guys are looney toons. TJ compared them bc they both wore shields. Stepan played the game softer than soft. Saying he’s tough bc he played with an injury doesn’t make him a “tough player”. He played through an injury like 99.9% of athletes do, pain killers are a hell of a drug. That doesn’t mean he played the game “tough”. Continue trying to twist words and start arguments.

Darren Turcotte missed games because he burst his own ear drum cleaning his own ears. Dustin Penner missed games because he sneezed while eating pancakes, throwing his back out. Erik Johnson missed a whole year because he (frank)ed up his knee golfing. Brent Sopel missed a playoff game because he slipped and fell after trying to pick up a cracker off his kitchen floor.

So I guess I found the .1%?

Try twisting this:
Any ATHLETE who plays one of the roughest sports going for 25+ years, making his way through the various leagues and plays 13 years in the top league in the world has above average toughness, regardless of his style of play. There would be exceptions, of course. But, the guy retired less than a year ago after keeping himself in game shape for decades.
I would need a peak at your bio to be sure, but I'd give you a less than 3% chance of not ending up out cold with shit in your diaper after having a go at Stepan.

I love the hire so far. Time will tell if he can turn it around for them, this year and in the future, but personality-wise he seems to be a great fit already. Our seats are 14 rows up and offset behind the Isles bench. You could hear him yelling loud and clear over the crowd noise the other night during the play.

I'm good with this entire board questioning what happens on the ice that can be quantified. But It's almost impossible to be an élite pro athlete. Hence why so few people do it. Just by nature alone you have to mentally superior than almost everybody in the specific field.

All you had to do was say “as far as nhl players go, he was not one to fight or mix it up and I think that’s a sign of weakness. I say this understanding full well we’re all dumb average Joe hockey fans typing this from our keyboards and of course he could kick my ass.” But you’re a goomba and that’s ok. Just understand why this is happening to you

I mean if you're not gonna respond to guys like Rod Brind'Amour or Patrick Roy, as a current player, hockey might not be for you.

No one wants to fight Stepan, but the usual few are twisting words to start arguments that don’t exist.

I've got nothing but fond memories of Step. Sure he was a little slow, but he was a hell of a play maker and gave us fans some great moments. Goodrow on the other hand....

He’s never fought in the NHL to my knowledge, but with that being said, just bc he’s a professional athlete, he could definitely beat us all up 👀
