You must admit many people are easily triggered in this post and their are a lot of idiotic opinions that are spewed like gospel. So it makes this thread an easy target.

True but holy hell the derp donkeys are extra special when they come here.

I see another one popped in to revel in the ‘Nucks convincing 6-4 win from Sat night with an empty netter against the lowly leafs and our 3rd string goalie. .

Guess the tummy stix tourney ended early out west.

Leafs fans have equally stupid takes about other teams players.

What would this place be without stupid takes?

No man.
Unlike fans of all the other Canadian hockey teams, who have the leafs living rent free in their spacious echo'e heads. Most leafs fans dont spend one minute thinking about other Canadian nhl teams.

Its either grrr willie (from one or two) which brings out the grrr marners and then in the middle of that i toss in some grr keefe.which leads to a few grrr shanny and the odd grrr fake.
That can be topped off with a little grrr Tre, but its just a light springle.....its his first year afterall.

We simply have no time for grr cafacks or any other team.
But as always, thanks for thinking of the leafs!
Got it?

This is BS. I get the point you are trying to make but I grew up surrounded by Leafs fans. They are always talking about other teams and also the players they would like to see in a Leafs uniform.

This is hogwash on my end, I couldn't give a poop about other Canadian teams.

I've got some friends who are Edmonton fans, the only time I ever catch myself even discussing another Canadian team is when I get caught up in their yapping about the leafs for no reason whatsoever.

I am calling it now.. The Leafs will miss the playoffs.

There is nothing that we have seen from the Leafs since the start of the season that would lead you to believe that they will get better. I would say in the last 4 weeks their play has been getting worse.

First 2 months of the season above .600 points percentage.. Last 2 months below .600.

11 games this month.. They beat LA (15th and on a slide) Anaheim(30th)/SJ(32nd) and Calgary(22nd) and Seattle (23rd).. They have lost to every good team they have played...

2 losses to the Peg(not a stretch to think it can happen) and we have a losing month and next months schedule is tougher that last month.

I'd clone the Markov and Yuschevich (sp?) pairing..or McCabe and Kaberle.

I have no problems talking Leafs, Habs, Jets, Sens, Flames or Oilers. I think you should maybe look up the word Irony. You may have been a bit premature on your alert.

Yeah because it involves the Leafs.

We don't care about other teams until we need to. The Canucks entered and left my mind within a few days, onto the next team.

The Leafs and Jays take enough time out of my day thinking about them, why should I bother wasting my time always thinking and talking about a team I don't care for?

Some fans are way too bothered by the Leafs and I feel sorry for them, it will ruin some peoples summers the day they win the cup.

I suppose I didn't make my point clearly. For instance, me and my hockey fan friends/family which are mostly Leafs, Flames, and Habs fans have been talking about the Perry signing. That doesn't involve my team or anyone else's but still everyone seems to be able to have a discussion on what they think about it.

So when you say we Leaf fans don't care, it doesn't ring true in my circles.

Every family member Leafs fans. Every friend Leafs fans. They don’t give a poop about any team unless Leafs are playing them. They only care about their fans when they chirp and act like clowns…rings true in my circle.

Seriously, though - what kind of arguments are these? They're preposterous - not just you.

If you like hockey, then you like hockey. I cheer for the Leafs and I care mostly about the Leafs, but I like hockey. I have subscribed to Centre Ice in the past just to watch hockey in general. You can't properly evaluate your own team unless you know what other teams look like and play like. You also can't claim to be objective if you have no comparison.

Being belligerent because someone cheers for Vancouver or Montreal or Detroit or whomever is silly. Being belligerent because they started it is tit-for-tat (we all know it's not the most mature thing when we do it, but . . .) - but really if you're trying to make the claim that all Leaf fans are myopic and don't watch hockey but only the Leafs? Please leave me out of it.

Obvious statement here first: I am certainly not a Santo fan man! But I’m not sure any of his points were belligerent at all. I took something completely different out of it.

It’s one thing to watch hockey games involving different teams (I have CentreIce as well), but it’s another to have an obsessive hate for other teams. Rivalries all day I get it - but that’s the thing with Canucks fans for example (Oil Flames Jets also…but for argument sake just Canucks) - they post mocking leafs even on nights Leafs don’t even have a game man. It truly is something to see.
I haven’t been around for a while and decided to come back in because o was positive the Canucks fans would be in full douche force. I was correct.

I love watching and talking hockey. I even posted how I feel the Canucks are real good team this year all day. Their fans are absolutely consumed by all things Toronto though man. Out of all Canadian teams - Leafs fans by far give less poops about other teams. In fact I think leafs fans are in their own world sometimes - obsessed about themselves and chirping their own team and fans. I rarely see them go outside the team to chirp like other fan bases. It’s part of why it confuses me that other fans feel it necessary to even chirp leafs or players, when their own fans do it constantly.
For the most part when leafs fans are talking about other teams it’s more so to say how they wish they had player x or how team x has a better roster build etc.

I don’t know many Toronto fans that read every article written about any other team just so they chime in with their negative bullpoop. But the other way around is a whole other story. But I guess somehow you haven’t noticed that.

But I'm not going to get pissy about it. I lived in Toronto itself for about 10 years and then moved further and further into the suburbs. I married a girl from the east coast and have had to travel through Canada for work. Toronto as a city is not well liked around Canada. It's silly - but what are you gonna do about it? They're not going to change.

All they have is hoping they can bug you enough that they can take some satisfaction from it.

The counter argument that I don't want other team's hockey games or pay attention to hockey . . . but I do. I may not read write-ups after other team's games, but I watch the Canucks and the Oilers and the Jets and the Flames. There's not much that I love about watching Ottawa or Montreal - both on pricipal but also right _now_ anyway.

It's not just Canadian teams, but mostly due to friendships with other people who live around the country I'll watch games with them. I have a certain respect for a lot of their players. I mean in terms of general Toronto hatred for no real good reason - I tend to find it's Vancouver and Edmonton fans who on average seem the most vitriolic - but for the most part I try not to let it irritate me.

I guess the easiest way I'd put it: I post on a board with a limited number of users because we know each other. We know typically opinions and if someone wants to actually talk hockey I appreciate it - and I can respect other viewpoints. Or at the very least I know that I can try.

Not trying to troll, just an honest question...

Now that Nylander has signed a max 8-year deal, could he still be traded before his new no-trade extension kicks in? If so, when does that extension actually begin? When this season ends? July 1st?

Contracts end at the end of June 30, so his new deal will begin on July 1st but his current deal - which is not really an exception for good players - has an NMC in it this year. The CBA says that players can't have an NMC or NTC until they are 27, I believe it is, so you'll note that most contracts - even those which began as RFA and extend into some UFA years - contain some form of protection once the player turns 27.

The only way Willy is being dealt is if he chooses to be.

anyone got a good site regarding reporting of injured players?

TSN always seem to be a day late and a dollar short when it come to posting about injured players.

Thanks for clarifying that! I imagine he wouldn't have any interest in a change of scenery unless it was somewhere that would have huge tax benefits and even that probably wouldn't happen
