Let's all hope Xhekaj beats Tkachuk to a pulp!

- Scabeh

Sadly, he will just beat up Zack McKeown.

Barron was the main piece in that trade

At this point they should let him in Laval for the rest of the season and their playoffs push. Too may young ds in Montreal right now anyway

Wifi will need to be better as well with the big club and he knows it

Still think he gets flipped eventually.

Barron was playing great at some point. He's been sent down because his level of play dropped.

He'll get it back. Not saying he won't be traded or that he's absolutely part of this future defense. Just give him time.

I think Mailloux will be better than him in the end though.

well that's my point. both Mailloux and Reinbacher will be better imo. and they can always play Guhle on the right side. so what do you do with Barron?

Yeah, if Baron is not seen to be in the top 4, not sure he has a place on the team TBH. Wonder if it is better to package him for upgrades now/this summer than wait til next year.

He could be a nice throw in in a package to get a decent forward.

Well his overall package of speed, size and offensive ability should still interest alot of teams looking to add a young defenseman.

My guess (to answer Fido at the same time) is he sticks around. Savard only has a year left and we don't know if Reinbacher/Mailloux will be ready to play in the NHL. Barron, at the very least, showed he can play in this league when he's at his best.

Matheson is also in the top 30 players to be traded at the deadline (Allen and Money being the 2 first) TSN list

yeah, I don't see Hughes trading Matheson or Savard this time around.
next year he will. maybe.

Agree

by the way I dont say that because I think he wont be an NHL player, but I see the Habs fading at some point and I think being in Laval in the playoffs for some of our younger players would be whats best for them and their future. I see a few of them going back there at some point, like Roy and maybe Harris, etc.

yeah, keep them for now for sure, no reason to move them right away. Its obvious the kids on the blue line need the vets to stick around

Savard might be moved at TDL 2025, when he will be about to be a UFA. Too lazy to check the contract of Matheson. Ghule might be ready by then to lead the defense but he will need support around him. Again, no need to rush anything there.

Matheson isn't going anywhere imho. Even with Hutson coming over at the end of the year.

it would take an offer he cannot refuse. I just don't see it.
even next year, I'm not sure he will trade them (Matheson and Savard). until they are better than all the kids.... they will stay imo.

Not sure Matheson is going anywhere, tbh.

I would be shocked if Savard is not traded on / before the 2025 TDL.

I could see him traded during the summer. No way a playoff team gives up a roster player for him at the TDL
