The puck needed to be on net for Atkinson to deflect or get a rebound. It's a pretty common play. But, I will say, Frost is playing a good game, as are several Flyers.

I think it was because the Flyers top forwards were gassed since they played most of the 3rd period.

This game is the same as the Avalanche game. Flyers getting beat by high level elite players. It can't call it a mess when the Flyers are battling and competing. To the last second. They've won a lot of tight games this year and the Flyers margin of error is very small. Just not going to continue with that pace with such a short bench.

They should name Coots captain, it's ridiculous to me.

Great game from what I saw (last two periods) by Frost…up on his skates , lots of skillful plays. Drysdale was good, Farabee continues to have a breakout year. Disappointed in the Harts news…never a dull moment in Flyers land.

TB had the lead but Cooper used pretty much his entire bench. It was a factor for why TB was the stronger team down the stretch in the 3rd period. Flyers should be rolling at least 3 lines in the 3rd period. Coaching in that manner in January shows desperation. It's certainly not considering anything in terms of team development. Can't win that way.

The Flyers were too passive on the PK. Too respectful of the TB skilled players. They've been a great PK team all season. Not tonight.

Gonna disagree here. It's actually easier to use your entire bench when you are playing with the lead. When you are trailing most coaches will shorten their bench. In fact, I'd say that if the roles were reversed Cooper would have shortened his bench and played his veteran stars more.

Cooper is not going to run his team into the ground for a game in January. Shortening a bench is playing the top two lines and mixing in a 3rd line. Tortorella was double shifting the Couturier and Frost lines. Did you not see where I commented that Cooper had the lead? Tortorella is coaching idiotically and acting like its the playoffs. For him, maybe it is. It shouldn't be. If this keeps up, he's not going to have much of a team left in February and March. A lot of season still left.

Totally agree with you on this! Thank you for not gloating about the loss and fairly pointing out why they have been struggling. After a quick back read, I heard Torts said they will be going with 11/7. I have seen most of his pressers but not all. Has anyone called him out on the short bench and how it will wear the team down? Not a Torts hater but don't agree with him on this.

Definitely strange. Guys like Laughton and Coots can help eat up minutes with the 11/7 "strategy." I don't get it. It's been noted on here that we will wear ourselves out trying to make the playoffs, then have no gas at all if it happens. Not sure what Torts thinks he will accomplish with his recent decisions.
