They had to. They extend Ersson for two years when they didn't need to. They trade up and draft two goalies in this past draft. They fought the ruling to get Fedotov over here, and are working hard to get Kolosov over here ASAP. You can connect these dots and clearly see the Flyers have known for a while Hart was one of the players under investigation.
- jd250

drafting goalies in the 23 draft really didnt have any bearing in the hart situation.

they had an agreement for Kolosov a while back. That being siad they def knew.

Yesterday’s thread last night I made a post that MJL and TheFreak pointed out I misread. They are correct and I apologize for misreading. TheFreaks post did not say what I thought it did. I reread it and they are both correct.

do you think the flyers had an idea Hart was involved and this day was probably coming?
- hello it's me 2050

100% they knew he was being investigated. drafting 2 goalies kinda early in the last draft with othe decent goalie prospects in the mix raised eyebrows about a possible trade, but it now seems it was due to the Hockey Canada situation.

If they knew this was coming, yet they continued to play him, it really doesn't look so good on them. Ottawa cut ties with Fermenton completely, and he went to Europe. Tampa traded Foote away last year..did they suspect something? How much did NJD know with 2 players on the team taking leaves?

Just a bad, sad situation.

Would like to see an energized game tonight...JD250....here is the time for Torts to shine....if he is as good as you say as a coach, he should be able to keep the team focused, and get them to stay focused on games. I am expecting a rough game tonight, and could easily see it being one sided.

I'm fully expecting a 5 game losing streak heading into the AS break. This team looks like it's leaking oil anyway and now the distractions are taking center stage.

18 points in 45 games making $825,000. Seems like a good value player to me.

The Flyers have three 4th liners making a total of $6.75m who have scored 14 points in 117 combined games.

- Feanor

Hang on!

If I’m not mistaken but Joe Veleno and Zadina were both drafted in the first round of 2018. Neither has done much of anything. If this was here, nobody would be okay with this. Putting this spin that they’re paying less for 4th line players than us is ridiculous because these two kids should have developed into way more.

Not to mention, that was a deep draft!

disagree 100%. Those goalies are many years away from the nhl if they make it. O

Well the entire pubic knew the team was being investigated.

Is there a freeze at the asg like over Xmas?
- Hextall271

No...I believe the NYR traded for Martin St. Louis at the All Star game. The only trade freeze I am aware of is the Christmas break.

I know, but between Cutter, the losing of games recently and now Hart, I want to focus on something not negative.
- WhiskeyMan

There was a report that came out late in the summer about the “5” guys. One of the hockey insiders leaked it. I knew 4 names but had always heard comtois as the 5th. I think from reading what exactly happened, it was apparent this was coming.
Adding to your post….they never sought to extend Hart which they could have done. His denials were never he wasn’t there….just he did nothing wrong. In the end that’s what courts are for. Everyone has these guys all painted with the same brush…that’s just not the case.

The last game was perhaps his best game as a Flyer. He was up on his skates and making sh!t happen on almost every shift. The question becomes cane he be consistent with this and not fade into the background again.

Confidence is such an underrated quality in a hockey player. Let’s hope Frosty gets some bounces and continues to build on what we’ve started to see more of.

Gonna be interesting to see how Ersson handles being the man. Much more pressure I would think. Merslikens wants out of Columbus? I wonder if the Flyers would make a play for him although I don't know his price tag.
- Phillywhiteout

I’m sure the Flyers knew this was coming and it seems like Ersson has been splitting the load lately. Doesn’t make it easier on him. Maybe he’ll thrive, who knows.

if you say so. They wee going to sign him either way as he is a good goalie who they drafted. Not buying it.

The Flyers have Drysdale. Tippet's injury is far less worse then originally feared and he should be back soon. Hart is a loss but he was really just an average goalie. It's certainly not that bad.
- MJL

The real loss with Hart is what we could have gotten back in a trade for him with a contending team that currently has garbage in net. I totally believe that he was not traded previously because of the cloud hanging over him that potentially seems to be coming to reality now.

I am also starting to realize that Hart's health issues were probably stress related. Ulcers/intestinal issues etc. Having something like this is like having an anvil hanging over your head. Especially for as long as it has been dragged out.

I don't know...I get that too, but you have a guy in a prominent position on the team being investigated for a highly public rape case...Not sure what the right thing to do was.

Of course it does….but in todays world we all know this situation is not one that will go away even if exonerated. The girls is apparently fully cooperating now with the police so her statements on the events will be public record. So many times in life sports celeb’s get away with stuff…other times they don’t. If the girls telling the truth, and honestly I think she probably is, then the repercussions are going to be harsh. Yes she did say certain things, but come on.

Was this why he had mental health counsellors? I wonder why that was suddenly stopped, and by whom.

They are due for some luck….still hoping it’s Michkov and that the Flyers got him at #7.

It’s a fair question from a hockey perspective. But even Elliot Freidman made reference when there was Hart trade talk around the draft that the world Jrs situation would have to be settled before anyone would trade for him. He was careful to say that he knew no specifics but that any player from that team that was at that event was under scrutiny.
