so he quit and is a (frank)ing baby

That may well be true. But a rookie GM didn’t sign him when he had the chance. You snooze you lose.

We have discussed this too. 🤗

If you were leaving an organization because your overall impression is that it is moribund and not going anywhere but it is still a powerful entity in the industry you are going to spend your career in, would you say the truth? No, you would not stir up a hornets nest. There is nothing whatsoever to be gained by adding further insult to injury.

You would cite: "personal reasons". Sound familiar?

- PT21

You refuse to use common sense. None of that was present from the time he was drafted in June of 22 until March of 23 when he was willing to sign with the Flyers?

When the 66th overall pick Adam Fox did it, most of us probably didn’t even hear about it.

This is unprecedented. Stop acting like the CG/Flyers thing is just business as usual in the NHL.

Whatever the truth? I think it looks worse for the Flyers than CG, and I will hold to that forever.

- FloHaake

It's not unprecedented. Actions like this go all the way back to when Blake Wheeler was drafted 5th overall in 2004 by Arizona and refused to sign with them. It's happened numerous times. It doesn't happen often but it's not unprecedented.

The Bruins dominated the Flyers down low behind the net. Pasternak took the game over and then the Bruins cruised to victory.

Ok cool, so the Flyers are now seen as inept as Arizona always has been?

Don’t know about you, this hasnt happened in my life as a Philadelphia Flyers fan. It hasn’t happened before. In other words, “unprecedented”.

Good enough for the pedantic people on here?

CG leaves himself little room for missteps. If CG changed his mind to play for the flyers because he would have to earn his spot then that’s on CG. If the flyers didn’t want to burn a year on his ELC for a couple of months that’s understandable given that the flyers need all the young talent on ELC they can get. How is that dysfunctional? If CG didn’t want to deal with Torts and the drama behind it I get it but it’s a bit of a cop out.
The flyers embrace their history and are known as an organization that takes care of its players.
I think they go overboard at times but so what.
The biggest problem the flyers have is they don’t innovate and stay ahead of the curve with how the game is evolving. They are chasing the culture of the game to often.

I spent the afternoon in a crowded high school auditorium watching my niece, in her role as ensemble member #11. Which of us had a better time?

I think there are plenty of reasons to think this franchise is inept but one draft pick not being willing to sign with the team, doesn't make them inept. This reflects poorly on Gauthier in my opinion. Not the Flyers.

You finish with another ad-hominin attack.

The Flyers have lost 5 in a row but the good news is so far. The two teams they have to worry about. NJ and the Pens, have not to this point taken advantage of the Flyers losing streak.

What I’m saying is I don’t care one way or another. If they still played that racist old dummy singing the America song y’all can’t stop hanging on to, I’d just mute the TV, which is what I did anyway. The thought of digging into Kate Smith’s work in the early 20th century to get her “woke cancelled” or whatever you boomers get all Viagra’d about, never crossed my mind and I also find to be pretty stupid to be concerned with.

But the facts are there, so she can go sing about “darkies” in hell, all while The Flyers have top draft picks refusing to even speak with them.

Culture warrior bozos, the lot of you.

I hope so. I've never really been a fan of the theatre and even less so amateur theatre. Have you ever read or heard David Sedaris’ “Front Row Center With Thaddeus Bristol”. Pretty funny

I forgot I’m arguing with folks that are likely caught hook line and sinker by the media spin DB and Jonesy put on. Yes ok it’s ALL Cutter’s fault, the Philadelphia Flyers had nothing to do with it.

Just because we discussed it doesn’t mean I have to agree with you. Think another poster hit it on the head. He got his panties in an uproar because he thought he was due some guarantees…screams attitude to me. You know who else doesn’t give an answer? A guy that knows he’s going to look like a a$$ if he gives his reasons.

Well baaaaa baaaa baby, the Flyers are a trash franchise these days and Kate Smith should’ve been dropped 40 years ago, racism or not.

Baaaa baaa indeed.

Well, if being described as “pedantic” in your messageboard musings is ad-hominem, yall are bigger snowflakes than the ones that wanted Kate Smith gone.

I agree. If it’s as simple as a contract dispute, and they couldn’t agree on money, then just say that. No big deal. But that’s not what the message was from management, it was “he didn’t want to play for the Flyers”.

Ok so why? The Philly media wanted everyone to believe it’s because of Kevin Hayes, or that CG is a Penguins fan so eff him, or that he’s a player of questionable character attitude. Maybe? But this used to be a place athletes wanted to be, and for the first time in my life, a HIGHLY talented prospect said “nah, no thanks”.

If it’s just money, ELC, whatever, then say that. The fact that the messaging has nothing really to do with that, well that smells fishy to me. And I hate seafood.
