I agree. If it’s as simple as a contract dispute, and they couldn’t agree on money, then just say that. No big deal. But that’s not what the message was from management, it was “he didn’t want to play for the Flyers”.

Ok so why? The Philly media wanted everyone to believe it’s because of Kevin Hayes, or that CG is a Penguins fan so eff him, or that he’s a player of questionable character attitude. Maybe? But this used to be a place athletes wanted to be, and for the first time in my life, a HIGHLY talented prospect said “nah, no thanks”.

If it’s just money, ELC, whatever, then say that. The fact that the messaging has nothing really to do with that, well that smells fishy to me. And I hate seafood.

Just because we discussed it doesn’t mean I have to agree with you. Think another poster hit it on the head. He got his panties in an uproar because he thought he was due some guarantees…screams attitude to me. You know who else doesn’t give an answer? A guy that knows he’s going to look like a a$$ if he gives his reasons.
- landros 2

Of course you don't have to agree with me. I just said that to remind you I had already provided a rebuttal to your logic.

If that was the sole or the majority reason, his agent would have likely gone back to the Flyers and said, guys I have a long term relationship with you. I represent Farabee as well. And well, I can tell you off the record that my client likes your organization but feels very strongly about the ELC thing and not granting it would really sour his outlook. That would be bad for both parties.

And in that event, even an incompetent organization such as Flyers would definitely have given him the ELC.

Most professional sports today is very business like. You don't have Danny Markov types floating around. Voracek is probably the closest you get, or maybe TAD. Everything is scripted, and mediated by professionals. Even if a kid feels a certain way, a veteran agent would almost certainly counsel him to be reasonable if the underlying reason is as utterly trivial as you suggest.

And there is no evidence at all that CG is so diva like to insist on trivialities. In fact, there is evidence from two coaches, Nesterenko and Fohr, that he is adaptable and is team first.

If you want to believe stuff that is both unreasonable, without any evidence in support and with evidence against, knock yourself out.

It's starting to look like the best chance for the Flyers to make the dance will be by finishing 3rd in the Patrick division. It's starting to look like the 2 wild cards are gonna come out of the other division while many of the Patrick division teams are stuck in the mud. I mean, the Flyers just picked up ZERO points in their last 5 games and somehow they still are soundly in third place in the division (yeah, I know the other teams have games in hand).

I think the fact that he wasn’t willing to talk to team and refused to hear them out is EVIDENCE of Diva like behaviour. Be a man….edit: (and a professional)…tell them face to face. Everybody that says he owes the Flyers nothing are correct, but that does open him up as fair game to face criticism. You are the one with ABSOLUTELY no evidence on your side. WHY? Because CG refuses to give a reason both publicly and privately.
Your argument is PURE conjecture on your part….as long as you realize that …knock yourself out.

Did the bruins tank for the elite talent they now have?
- Hextall271

No, but they have people who can evaluate talent. Bergeron and Krecji are 2nd rounders, Marchand is a 3rd, Patrnak is a 1st but #25

If the Flyers needed to finish 3rd in the Patrick division we’d be set….it’s the Metropolitan Division they need to finish in the top 3 in to me.

Since Hart left the team. The Flyers have shown us about a couple of weeks example how important to good goaltenders are. One could get hot while the other might need a break.

Flyers can't seem to score without Tippett. Obviously you lose some goals without him but , Jesus. As for the defense, night and day from the first half of the season. I’m a big believer you can never have enough defensively depth heading into the playoffs but I’m having doubts we’re going now and this could lead to the deals most were looking forward to.

I mean, it happened THIS month, that we are still currently in. I’d say it’s still a very fresh topic.

Dysfunctional to tell a kid that they wont guarantee him a spot in the NHL unless he earns it?

How could they?

- MBFlyerfan

I get it about not guaranteeing anything. But, man, this was an easy promise to keep. Did they really feel that he was not going to make the team? In what universe would that have happened, if the decision was based on merit. The real problem is they would have had to cut/demote one of Laughton, Hathaway, ND or Atkinson. And you know they would never disrespect a vet-tran.

I don’t think it has anything to do with being a man. He was ready to sign and they stalled. So he evaluated his options. We don’t know. Maybe he got more information that changed his mind. He’s going to get criticism no matter the reason. Why put any energy into it if your mind is made up?

4 goals in 4 minutes…to end the 1rst….game over.

It took 4 min to score 4 goals and 60 min for ND to accumulate 4 min of playing time

Well, since we are talking about Cutter how bout I look at the other side of the deal. What does everyone think of Drysdale so far? I'm not all that impressed to be honest. At this point I'd take Cutter in an instant if he becomes the player that he is supposed to become. Drysdale a -4 this afternoon. Eh what? Oh, and Sadheim was just downright awful. Someone please clue him in that you are supposed to run over the OTHER team's goalie...not your own. Bozo!

The only reason to “put energy into it” comes down to only one thing. Professionalism. I’ve said from the start he has every right to not play in Philly. How he handled himself to me is the issue.

He can’t be in the lineup and play 5-6 minutes a night and continue to be on the ice for goals against.

ND should be playing in a beer league. He is so far behind the skaters at the NHL level these days. How can management not see this?

A complete embarrassment for everyone, the way they circled the wagons to try and besmirch the dude for “not liking The Flyers”.

How about if you’re a reputable franchise with competent management, players will have no problem suiting up for you. This was a complete black eye for them, so they played victim with the media. Truly like, Mean Girls level poop.

I agree with this take.
